Governor Greg Abbott today announced that President Donald J. Trump approved federal disaster assistance as part of a Major Disaster Declaration, following deadly and destructive flooding that impacted Texas this past week. Qualifying Texans in Kerr County are eligible for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Individual Assistance program. Additional counties may be added at a later date.
Everyone knows that the "big, beautiful" tax bill signed into law on the Fourth of July lowers tax burdens for families and businesses. It also averts a $4 trillion tax increase starting next year. That's enough reason to celebrate heartily. Expect the economy to grow at over 3% in the years ahead, which will lighten the burden of our national debt. Is it the most significant consecutive victory in modern times? It may just be.
I voted YES to prevent the largest tax increase in American history. This legislation secures critical reimbursement to Texas for Operation Lone Star and extends the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee, which is tasked with rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse in federal programs. This is a major step toward protecting taxpayer dollars, securing our border, and putting hardworking Americans first.
The Texas Nuclear Alliance (TNA), the only industry association in Texas dedicated to the advancement of nuclear technology in the state, has grown to include 50 member organizations, marking a major milestone in its mission to advance the nuclear industry in Texas. The Texas Nuclear Alliance is the only industry association in Texas dedicated to the advancement of nuclear technology in the state.
Well, it finally passed! On July 3rd, 2025, the Republican Conference got the Big Beautiful Bill to President Trump’s desk. July 4th, Independence Day, and Trump signed off on another set of incredible victories. President Trump campaigned on key conservative priorities, and he has kept those promises, cajoling an erstwhile reluctant GOP Congress to go along. There’s much to celebrate in this legislation.
The State of Texas has deployed over 1,500 personnel, more than 925 Vehicles & Equipment Assets, as over 20 State Agencies are engaged in flood response or threats across the state. “I had the opportunity to visit Camp Mystic yesterday to see firsthand what happened there. It was nothing short of horrific,” said Gov. Greg Abbott, announcing the state's broadening of areas being focused on, while not reducing focus in the Kerrville area.
Our hearts break for the families grieving the loss of loved ones, and we continue to hope for miracles in the tragedy. God bless our first responders – true heroes who run toward the unthinkable. May the Lord bless and protect each of those impacted as they rescue, recover, and bring comfort our fellow Texans. And as we look toward next year’s 250th Anniversary of American Independence, let us never forget that our nation’s strength does not come from Washington.
This 4th of July celebrating the birth of the United States is especially meaningful because, as promised, House & Senate Republicans passed the "One Big Beautiful Bill" that President Trump signed into law on the day of the 4th itself. After four years of Democrats' chaos — which led to a raging border crisis, weakened national security, and a broken economy — this historic legislation puts our nation back on track.
The passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill is a big, beautiful win for Texas families, workers, seniors & small businesses. It locks in President Trump's historic tax cuts — protecting taxpayers in Texas from a devastating 26% tax increase, which would have been the largest in American history. It also delivers $13.5 billion in border reimbursements for states like Texas, and makes the most significant investments in border security ever seen.
Every 4th of July, as fireworks burst across the sky, I’m reminded of the promise and possibility that define America. I came to the United States legally, picking cotton & onions in the fields of South Texas — so my story's one of legal immigration, hard work, and a deep love for America that could only happen here. And through faith and determination, I became a Member of Congress. Only in America can a girl from those fields rise to serve her nation in such a way.
We hope our conservative friends in the House are paying attention. In addition to preventing a $4 trillion tax hike, both bills contain these hidden gems that we’ve waited a long time to achieve incentivizes school choice scholarships that empowers American families and students to choose the education that best fits their needs. The Senate version includes scholarships only in states that opt in. We will name and shame the states that do not.

Forty years ago, I spent my first Independence Day here in Washington, D.C. My family and I had just arrived in the United States as legal immigrants, carrying all of our possessions in a few suitcases of clothes. I was not even three years old. They willingly traded the comfort of the warm Caribbean for the unknowns of the cold East Coast. But they were inspired to expand the educational horizons for their son and daughter (and later, their second son), and what they hoped would eventually be fulfilling career paths for all of us.
Under Joe Biden and Alejandro Mayorkas, millions of illegal aliens were enticed and permitted to enter our country. Once here, millions were released into the country without vetting and without authorities keeping track of them. And, as it turns out, many of them, perhaps more than one million of them, have criminal records, are accused of crimes (other than the crime of illegally entering the country), are gang members, or are affiliated with foreign terrorist organizations.
The green energy lobby has been telling us for decades now that wind and solar are the energy sources of the future and that the federal subsidies will be temporary and profitability is "right around the corner." Now 50 years later, we're told that ending the gravy train of taxpayer handouts means the certain death and destruction of the industry. This is despite hundreds of billions already handed out.
