As the U.S. prepares to host several high-profile, mass-spectator events like the Olympics, the FIFA World Cup, and Nationwide Celebrations for our 250th Birthday, our nation has work to do to prevent another terrorism incident like the Boston Bombing. I'll never forget leading the Congressional Investigation into the Boston Marathon Bombing as chairman of the Homeland Security Committee. One of the worst parts was, it could have been prevented.

 Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock recently visited the Texas Bullion Depository (TxBD) to see its operations firsthand and discuss new TxBD services and preparations for legal tender legislation. In 2015, the Texas Legislature passed a law establishing the state-administered depository for precious metals as an official agency under the administration of the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, operated by a private entity without any use of taxpayer dollars.

It's being described by the media as an "autopsy," an examination by Democrats as to why they lost the last presidential election and a congressional majority. Newly declassified documents reveal that former President Obama and his National Security Team laid the groundwork for what would become a years-long, politically motivated investigation of President Trump. Despite "intelligence assessments" that Russia was probably not attempting to influence the 2016 election, the Obama White House pushed forward anyway, creating it's own assessment to justify the false narrative.

This week, I got a call from the National Republican Congressional Committee. They wanted a donation. For the first time, I let the volunteer on the other end of the line make her case. When she asked me to donate $100, I said to her: “I want you to know that normally, I would hang up on these calls because the Republican Party would get nothing done and often squanders its political capital. However, this is the first time I am planning to donate. You are getting sh—t done!”

Rarely does one find such red-hot smoking guns as proof of wrongdoing, let alone for "Treasonous Conspiracy." Imagine a sitting U.S. president – who in conjunction with his Senior-most National Security Team – fabricated intelligence at the president's instruction so as to undermine his successor. Barack Obama and his senior officials left a digital trail – and then along came Tulsi Gabbard, a former Vice Chair of the Democrat National Party, no less.

Governor Greg Abbott today thanked his fellow Governors across the country for providing critical emergency response and recovery resources to Texas following a request for support after devastating flooding across the state. Following an Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) request from the State of Texas, 26 states provided state emergency response resources to assist Texas with flood response and recovery operations.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick announced the Texas Senate's legislative initiatives for this summer's first Special Session of the 89th Legislature earlier today. Addressing the issue of Consumable Hemp-Derived Products that offer a similar high to marijuana – and are now widely available across Texas thanks to a loophole in a previous law – was initially seen as the most high-profile item anticipated for the session.

The U.S. Senate passed the Illegal Red Snapper and Tuna Enforcement Act, introduced by Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii), Sen. Katie Britt (R-Ala.), and Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.). The bipartisan bill directs the NIST and the NOAA to develop a standard methodology for identifying the country of origin of red snapper and certain species of tuna imported into the U.S.

Ronald Reagan, who called for the cancelation of scores of programs, couldn't get Congress to end the eternal life-support system. After watching Congress fund even the most inefficient agencies, he famously groused that "the closest thing to immortality on this earth is a government program." But to quote the back-in-vogue poet of the people, Bob Dylan, the times they are a-changin' in Washington.

With varying degrees of scorn or anger, Democrats have for years denied that they are Communists. Now, however, the deniability is no longer even close to plausible. This time it’s real – and undeniable. The Communists are clearly the future of the Democrat Party. Hating America and having a taste for Marxism goes with being a Democrat like arrogance and self-righteousness go with being Barack Obama.

During the meeting, Ambassador Moreno Bau offered support to Texans following the catastrophic flooding that occurred over July 4th holiday weekend, recalling a similar tragedy which occurred a year ago in Valencia. The Ambassador also underscored Spain's strong economic footprint in Texas, noting that Spain has over 100 active investment projects in the state across key industries like energy production, infrastructure, and steel manufacturing.
