Breathless In Seattle

If there were an award for the most counterproductive tax increase in modern history, it might be Washington state's estate tax. Enacted last year, the rate is 35%, which as even the liberal Seattle Times admits "is by far the highest in the U.S." That comes on top of a 40% federal estate tax.  Why would anyone with more than $50 million in wealth die in Seattle when they can move to Utah or Florida or Texas or several other dozen states and pay absolutely nothing?

What Do the Dems Do After They’ve Done Their Worst and It Flops?

When you hear that Donald Trump and, by extension, we patriots are the most fascist, racist, sexist, corrupt, perverted, and also fascist monsters in the history of ever, you have to wonder something. You don’t wonder why they’re saying it. You know why they’re saying it. They’re liars and dirtbags, and they are losing their grip on power, and they’re desperate. What you have to wonder is “Where do they go from here?”

Gov. Abbott Celebrates Record-Breaking School Choice Demand

“Through this program, families will receive funds to send their children to a school that is the best fit for them," said Gov. Greg Abbott, celebrating Texas' record-breaking demand for school choice with over 100,000 Texas families submitting applications to the Texas Education Freedom Account (TEFA) Program. This marks the nation's largest launch of allowing eligible students to direct funding toward their choice of educational providers.

When Did It Become Normal for Half the Country to Disregard Federal Law?

Resistance. Insurrection. Rebellion. Treason. Mutiny. Insubordination. This behavior has many names, but it all comes down to the same problem. When did it become commonplace — celebrated even — for half the country to simply disregard our Nation's Laws? By "half the country," I mean Democrats, of course. But seriously — how is this even a thing?

WOOLLEY: News with a View – from the 'Unbiased' Associated Press

In a recent story about another tragic school shooting, the AP-Associated Press provided the shooter’s name, their age, and talked about possible issues with mental health. But something felt wrong, so I searched and found a story on “LGBTQ Nation” that provided the full details about the shooter – an 18-year-old trans woman. That fact is critical given that at least three other recent shootings have connections to the transgender movement. If the storied Associated Press promotes itself as being unbiased, why isn’t it?

The Decline of the Washington Post

Publisher Will Lewis resigned after owner Jeff Bezos announced a restructuring of the once-influential newspaper that closed the entire sports section. One third of the staff was fired, including at least 300 newsroom journalists. This has been part of a pattern in the industry for several years, especially as younger people now get their "news" from the internet or read and watch only those outlets that reinforce what they already believe. As a result, advertisers have also fled.

Historic Milestone: More Than 100,000 Students Apply for Texas Education Freedom Accounts

The record-setting demand for school choice in Texas hit a new milestone this weekend. The program is not first come, first served. Families who apply before the March 17 deadline will have an opportunity to participate. If demand exceeds available funding, funds will be allocated through a lottery that prioritizes students with disabilities and students from low- and middle-income households. The timing of a family’s application has no bearing on their position in the lottery.

Sens. Cruz and Britt Introduce Bill to Protect Community Banks

U.S. Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Katie Britt (R-Ala.) introduced the Community Bank Relief Act. The Community Bank Relief Act raises the $10 billion asset threshold for covered bank issuers and ties it to an annual cost-of-living adjustment measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) to enable more community banks to remain exempt from the Durbin restrictions, allowing them to strengthen their financial flexibility and ultimately reduce costs for American families.

John Fetterman, the Last Moderate Democrat

Decades ago, the Democratic Party had leaders like Presidents Harry Truman and John F. Kennedy who were proud of our country and our citizens. These leaders would have never embarked on a foreign “apology tour” like Former President Barack Obama or allowed our country to be invaded by millions of illegal immigrants like Former President Joe Biden. In the 1980’s, a coalition of moderate congressional Democrats known as the “Blue Dogs” assisted President Ronald Reagan.

CONG. BABIN: Atrocities in Iran Remind Us What American Strength Preserves

Last week in the Washington Times, I addressed the heartbreaking tragedy unfolding in Iran and the brutal reality of a regime that answers peaceful dissent with bullets and prison cells. For 47 years, since 1979, Iran’s rulers have exported terror, fueled instability across the Middle East, and oppressed their own people with impunity. I also wrote about a truth that history has proven time and again: Peace is not preserved by weakness.

CONG. PFLUGER: The 'SAVE America Act' Passes the U.S. House

Last week, I proudly voted to pass the "SAVE America Act" to secure U.S. Elections. It's common sense that only Americans should be able to vote in American elections, and this legislation ensures just that. Every single Democrat who voted against the bill proved they'd rather let Illegal Aliens tip the election scales, than protect your vote. Without everyone presenting a valid ID when voting – your legitimate vote means nothing. It's called the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility "SAVE" Act for a reason.

Central Texas Student a Winner in National Young Writers Contest

The national competition challenges students to craft compelling scary stories in just 100 words. Carefully crafted story starters help young writers overcome the blank page and begin writing quickly, while the word limit encourages them to sharpen vocabulary and make intentional plot choices. The genre invites students to experiment with character, viewpoint, tension and structure. Jazmin’s winning entry, titled “I Don’t Want What You Have I Wanna Be You,” tells the haunting story of a narrator who discovers her own name on a missing persons list.

HUNTER: How Do They Come Up With So Many Stupid Democrats?

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez flew to Munich, Germany, this week to participate a Security Conference where she and her fellow Democrats whine about their claim that the President is a "fascist" in the home of fascism, “genocide” in Gaza in the places where real genocidal plans were hatches, and "Climate Change" (in person) when they could have simply done a Zoom call and saved the “carbon footprint” of the flight.

Sens. Cruz, Lee, and Scott Introduce Bill to Prevent Childcare Fraud

“Programs in Minnesota for welfare and childcare were designed to channel resources into protecting vulnerable children, but were treated like an open ATM by criminals. The mass fraud in Minnesota shows that American taxpayers can no longer rely on Local & State politicians to prevent abuses, because those politicians have electoral and partisan incentives to look the other way," said Sen. Ted Cruz, as he, Mike Lee (R-UT) and Rick Scott (R-FL) introduced the "Payment Integrity Act."
