Governor Greg Abbott today announced that the fifth Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund grant of $17.3 million has been extended to Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (“SpaceX”) for an expansion of their semiconductor research and development (R&D) and advanced packaging facility in Bastrop. This expansion is expected to create more than 400 jobs and more than $280 million in capital investment.

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) introduced the Make American Flags in America Act of 2025. This legislation closes loopholes in existing law meant to ensure that American flags displayed on federal property or procured by federal agencies to be manufactured completely in the United States from American materials. This bill is cosponsored by Sens. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) and Rick Scott (R-Fla.).

Senate Bill 260, by Sen. Joan Huffman, permanently increases state spending on school safety by an additional $500 million for the next biennium. This legislation also doubles the annual funding for each campus from $15,000 to $30,000, which nearly triples the per-student funding from $10 to $28 each year.

(“Schneider Electric USA”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Schneider Electric SE, will modernize and expand their electric equipment manufacturing facilities on their El Paso campus. The multi-million-dollar project will create 300 new jobs. A Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) grant of $1.5 million has been extended to Schneider Electric USA.

 Last week Senator Brandon Creighton (R-Conroe) filed SB 1723 to establish a pilot program for the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to implement Rapid DNA technology, accelerating investigations and removing violent offenders from Texas communities. While traditional testing can take up to 72 hours, Rapid DNA delivers results in just 90 to 120 minutes, accelerating investigations and reducing backlogs.

The Texas Governor's Commission for Women is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Texas Women's Hall of Fame. The Texas Women's Hall of Fame recognizes women who have attained significant achievements in areas such as the arts, community service, education, leadership, health, science, and business.
