Over the past month, videos have surfaced of unidentified & unauthorized drones flying over the Eastern United States. It's unacceptable that the Biden Administration's Dept. of Defense is not protecting the sovereignty of American airspace. So as Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee on Counterterrorism, I led a hearing to examine the threats posed by drones to the U.S. homeland. In the wrong hands, drone technology could impact American national security – and disrupt our nation's critical infrastructure.
The world is on fire, our adversaries are on the move, and the United States cannot afford to fall behind. Last week, 1,000s gathered to commemorate the valor and sacrifices of the U.S. Soldiers who fought in the bitter cold during one of the greatest American battles of World War II, the Battle of the Bulge. House Republicans are committed to restoring the focus of our military back to lethality, giving our warfighters the tools they need to combat our adversaries, and counter the increased aggressions against the United States.
In case you missed it, U.S. Senate Commerce Committee Ranking Member Ted Cruz and Elliston Berry, a 15-year-old high school student from Aledo, Texas – and a victim of deepfake pornography – last week urged the U.S. House to pass the bipartisan, bicameral "TAKE IT DOWN Act" which Sen. Cruz introduced with Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN.) During a press conference, Ms. Berry and others spoke about the importance of ensuring that other women and girls don’t face the same horrific trauma.
The Texas Oil & Gas Association (TXOGA) today highlighted the many steps the industry is taking to prepare for winter weather events to ensure reliable oil and natural gas production and transportation no matter the weather, noting several positive policy developments designed to encourage investment in dispatchable electricity generation and expand electricity transmission infrastructure in the Permian Basin, both critical to meeting electricity needs in Texas.
One of the highest priorities for the incoming Trump Administration should be to end the Democrats' weaponization of powerful government agencies against taxpayers and businesses. Nowhere has this mission been more pernicious than funding the IRS with nearly $80 billion and hire tens of thousands of new tax snoops. The additional audits have so far raised less than $2 billion, far less than the additional expenditures. So how is this program "paying for itself"?
Governor Greg Abbott, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), and the Texas National Guard continue to work together to secure the border; stop the smuggling of drugs, weapons, and people into Texas; and prevent, detect, and interdict transnational criminal activity between ports of entry. Texas has decreased illegal crossings into the state by over 87% due to our historic border security mission.
Finally, after three years, numerous subpoenas, and facing contempt of Congress, Secretary Blinken appeared before my committee this week. Secretary Blinken repeatedly stated that this was a false and partisan report, but during my hearing, he admitted he never read my report. What’s partisan is claiming something is false without having read it simply because it does not advance your political agenda.
It’s an incredible honor to be chosen to serve as the next House Science, Space, and Technology (SST) Committee Chairman. Between our nation’s booming science, space, and tech sectors and the growing threat posed by adversaries like Communist China, there has never been a more important time for this committee. Falling behind in any of these critical arenas is not an option.
This week’s news of a new EPA report showed that methane emissions from the largest oil and natural gas-producing basins fell 44 percent between 2011-2013; and also dropped in seven oil and natural gas-producing basins by up to 87 percent from 2019-2023. Following the update, Texas Railroad Commissioner Wayne Christian criticized the Biden Administration for creating new rules and taxes on oil and gas producers and power plant
The establishment is up in arms because Donald Trump nominated Tulsi Gabbard to be Director of National Intelligence, and I must admit something – I probably don’t agree with some of the things Tulsi allegedly thinks. I’m generally more hawkish, and she’s generally more dovish. Now, we have to put things in perspective, because what regime media says about Tulsi Gabbard and her beliefs probably has nothing to do with Tulsi Gabbard or her beliefs.
Dear President Trump: Your efforts to fast track an "All of the Above" approach on energy is exactly what this country needs – not just for U.S. Energy Independence, but also for American Energy Dominance and U.S. Energy Security. You won, so obviously we can, should, and will begin drilling again, but the lingering Big Question remains: "Why is Big Oil urging you NOT to Gut Joe Biden’s Climate Laws?" The answer may have something to do with money – i.e. Joe Biden's liberal "Inflation Reduction Act" money. Its worth billions to them.
Serving as the representative of Texas' 142nd District has been the greatest honor of my career. Every day I work tirelessly to improve the lives of my constituents and neighbors – and my work often extends beyond the halls of the Texas Capitol. I support initiatives around the country that I know will uplift my constituents. That's why I'm excited about the potential game-changing impact of Capital One's $265 billion Community Benefits Plan for Black Texans who are often overlooked by financial institutions.
They’ve tried to steal the elections, bankrupt him in court, put him in jail, and there’s even been two attempts on his life. But nonetheless, Donald Trump is still standing, and if he can do this, he'll go down in history as the greatest modern U.S. President – the one who could stop Congress and "The Swamp" from eating America from within. And since it'd be literally impossible for him to run the country any worse than Joe Biden has, why not give him the benefit of the doubt and let him give it the ol' college try? All we're asking is, give Trump a chance.
When Joe Biden pardoned his son, it came as a shock to almost no one. Almost. Judging from the public's response and polling, very few Americans believed what the president tried to put over on them when it came to his son and the Big Guy's "Family Business." If Democrats’ and the media's self-important idiocy were shattered by the Bidens' actions, some believe The Party itself is in need of a new identity — a darker one. The Hunter Biden pardon just revealed to Democrats what the rest of America could already see plainly.
Having led the country in Job Creation & Population Growth for more than a decade, it used to be said that Texas' economy was the best in the nation. But the Lone Star State – generating a remarkable $2.6 trillion in GDP – also now ranks as the 8th Largest Economy in the world. And after SpaceX relocated its headquarters to South Texas over the summer, some are saying Texas is home to the best economy in The Galaxy – and its about to get better.
"After 1,000s of hours of preparation and donated toys and clothing, we finally get to see the relief on parents’ faces. Its the hope, joy, and gratitude of knowing their children will have presents under the tree come Christmas morning,” said The Salvation Army's Austin Area Commander, Major Lewis Reckline, announcing the 8:45am Friday, Dec. 13th Kick Off Event at 6510 S. Congress Ave. in South Austin near William Cannon.
Gov. Abbott and our State Legislators have shown Texas can lead the way in creating life-changing medical innovations for Texans suffering from chronic afflictions like Sickle Cell Disease. And, our Texas State Agencies have been working expeditiously to expand access to potentially curative treatments. Our medical teams are ready, families are waiting – let's finish what we started and make Texas a national leader in Sickle Cell Treatment.
On Wednesday, December 11th, U.S. Senate Commerce Committee Ranking Member Ted Cruz (R-Texas) will host a press conference celebrating unanimous Senate passage of his bipartisan TAKE IT DOWN Act, which now moves to the House for consideration. Sen. Cruz will be joined by the TAKE IT DOWN Act’s lead House sponsor Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R-Fla.), as well as victims and advocates for legislation to protect against online sexual exploitation.
