Last summer, Gov. Abbott launched the Texas "10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants List" to locate and arrest repeat offenders who've entered the country illegally and are wanted for dangerous crimes committed in Texas. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) recently captured a fugitive from that list – Carlos Venegas Ortiz, a Criminal Illegal Immigrant from Mexico wanted in Tarrant County & Ft. Worth since October 2024 for continuous sexual abuse of a young child.
Members of Congress who rush to El Salvador to retrieve an international gang-affiliated member – yet show zero urgency in meeting with Rachel Morin’s Family or addressing the Biden Border Crisis – have their priorities completely misaligned. This isn’t failed leadership – it’s a complete abandonment of their duty to protect American Citizens. Americans should not have their hard-earned tax dollars paying for trips intended to import Criminal Illegal Aliens back into our communities.
Meeting Jocelyn Nungaray’s family – especially her mother Alexis and her little brother Elias – I was honored to welcome them and Gov. Abbott, along with Dept. of the Interior Sect. Doug Burgum to our district to rename the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge to the Jocelyn Nungaray Wildlife Refuge, a change President Trump announced during his Joint Address to Congress. It was a deep reminder of the strength it takes to endure such an unimaginable loss. Jocelyn’s life was taken far too soon.
President Trump's spat with Harvard rolls on. He castigated Harvard as a "far left Institution" and a "liberal mess." Harvard's president has self-righteously accused Trump of violating the university's "free speech rights" by withholding $2 billion of Federal Funding Subsidies to the college. The obvious solution here is for Harvard to go the Hillsdale College route and turn down any further federal funding. Then they can say or do whatever they want.
If I went to China today and tried to buy land beside a Chinese military base, the next thing I know I’d be in a tiny cell hoping and waiting for an international prisoner exchange. In sharp contrast to Communist China, Texas has had multiple cases of land purchases by Chinese Nationals or Chinese entities near military bases here. If China tries to sneak in and study U.S. military bases from up close, shame on them. But if we here in Texas sit back and let it happen – shame on us.
National retail chains know that products like Bubblegum-Flavored Vapes are designed to addict children – which is why they refuse to sell them. And pharmacy stores like CVS and other major retailers have never sold E-Cigarettes or Vaping Devices. So if the most popular vapes contain as much nicotine as 590 Cigarettes, and since the FDA banned flavored vape sales five years ago — why are they still being sold in Vape & Smoke Shops in Texas? This issue is dangerously present in Texas.
“Today is a day I have worked toward for more than a decade, and it is a great day for Texas students and parents. I passed my first school choice bill as Senate Education Chair in 2013. As Lt. Governor, I have prioritized school choice and the Texas Senate has passed school choice six times since 2015 because parents should be able to place students in the educational environment that works best. I thank Speaker Burrows & Gov. Abbott for their teamwork in getting SB 2 over the line.”
During Sexual Assault Awareness Month, U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX) and U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) are codifying key parts of President Trump’s zero-tolerance border crackdown by introducing legislation to deport illegal immigrants convicted of sex crimes. The "Better Enforcement of Grievous Offenses by unNaturalized Emigrants (BE GONE) Act" amends the Immigration & Nationality Act to include Sexual Assault & Aggravated Sexual Violence as "aggravated felonies.”
On June 17, 2024, two Venezuelan illegal aliens assaulted and brutally murdered 12-year-old Houston resident Jocelyn Nungaray. Both suspects were enrolled President Joe Biden’s “Alternative to Detention” Program and were released into the United States, and one of the suspects was wearing an ICE GPS Monitor at the time of Jocelyn’s assault & murder. "May Jocelyn's family find peace in the tranquility of the Jocelyn Nungaray National Wildlife Refuge,” said Gov. Abbott earlier today.
The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC) today took a major step in ensuring the long-term energy reliability and economic vitality of the Lone Star State by announcing the buildout of the "Permian Basin Reliability Plan" using 765-kilovolt (kV) transmission lines — the highest-voltage transmission standard used in Texas. The plan will support the region’s strong and growing electricity demand, and unlock continued economic development across the Permian Basin.
Since 2021, the left has waged a veritable war against the American legal system in a variety of ways. One serial target of Democrats and the Left has been the Supreme Court. In 2020, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., spoke to an angry throng of pro-abortion protestors assembled at the very doors of the court chambers. He threatened two of the justices, Kavanaugh and Gorsuch, by name. Schumer yelled to the volatile crowd that the justices' views would make them "reap the whirlwind," and the two would not know what "hit" them.
Senate Bill 23, by Sen. Paul Bettencourt, increases the Homestead Exemption for Disabled Texans & Texans over 65 from $10,000 to $60,000. When combined with the across-the-board $140,000 Homestead Exemption passed in Senate Bill 4, and Senate Joint Resolution 2, Seniors & Disabled Texans would receive a $200,000 Homestead Exemption. The combined $200,000 exemption means School Property Taxes would be eliminated for the average over-65 Homeowner.
To no one’s surprise, the current Texas Legislative Session has been a busy one, and as of the middle of April the Senate alone had passed over 392 bills, including 32 of Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s priority bills. The Texas Legislature often paces the nation on issues of great import, and this session is no different – particularly Sen. Bryan Hughes's bill to provide the final blow to killing the left’s ESG Agenda. And, just as Texas confronted the boycotting of Oil & Gas in 2021, the effort by Sen. Hughes's is big!
Gov. Greg Abbott signed Senate Bill 14 into law – known as the Texas DOGE Bill – during a ceremony the Texas State Capitol. "This will slash regulations, put stricter standards on new regulations that could be costly to businesses, and puts a check on the growth of the administrative state," said Abbott, who joined at the signing by Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, House Speaker Dustin Burrows, as well as by Sen. Phil King & Rep. Giovanni Capriglione who carried the bills in the House and the Senate.
You know the adage: "Don't shoot yourself in the foot." But that's exactly what New Yorkers are doing by pouring their tax dollars into the Legal Aid Society. It should be called the Illegal Aid Society. It's 99% publicly funded — with your state and local tax dollars — and its chief business is litigating and lobbying to force changes in the law that will benefit criminals and handcuff the police. Sadly, it's been quite successful... and believe it or not, get ready for even more anti-policing to come.
The Republican Congressional Committee said Monday it would gladly pay for more House Democrats to travel to El Salvador – as long as they “livestream the whole thing and smile for the camera while they sell out their constituents.” After a flurry of attention, a growing chorus of Democrat Party leaders now believe "the optics" seen by American Voters are what matter most – and they're leading to rapid second-guessing and doubt about party efforts to focus so intently on the Abrego Garcia case.

“Texas just took a major step toward putting families in charge. Lawmakers listened to what Texans have been saying loud and clear: Every kid deserves options. This would be the largest-ever launch of an Education Savings Account Program in the U.S., and we look forward to seeing this bill signed into law.” Texas Families agree — 77% of Texas Voters support education freedom, regardless of their income or ZIP Code. The program will launch in the fall of 2026.
