Governor Abbott, Community Foundation Announce Over $40 Million In Long-term Flood Relief

Governor Greg Abbott today joined the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country to announce over $40 million in funding to support long-term housing relief following the July 4th floods in Kerrville. He was joined by Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country CEO Austin Dickson, Hunt Independent School District Superintendent Luci Harmon, and other federal, state, and local officials, as well as business, community, and nonprofit leaders.

More Crime = Fewer Jobs in Cities

If the Mayor and Governor want to make Chicago great again, they might want to embrace the tough-on-crime strategy. A study by Sanjai Bhagat, a professor of finance at the University of Colorado, finds that cities with high crime rates have subsequent higher rates of poverty and lower rates of employment. The relationships are statistically significant.

Land Commissioner Buckingham Announces Completion of the Restoring Colonial Waterbird Populations Project

This Project of Special Merit aimed to manage, monitor, and restore Rookery Island habitats. CBBEP performed debris removal, treatment for fire ants and invasive species, repairs to nest platforms, and informational sign monitoring on 130 active waterbird colonies to enhance nesting habitats and decrease nest failure or abandonment. Over four years, CBBEP observed 22 distinct species of waterbirds using rookery islands.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick issued a statement today after the Texas Senate, for the third time since May, passed Senate Bill 6, by Sen. Charles Perry, R-Lubbock, Banning THC, with bipartisan support. Senate Bill 6, by Sen. Charles Perry, prohibits the retail sale of any intoxicating cannabinoid in Texas, including in beverages. SB 6 does not alter the Texas Compassionate Use Program (TCUP) or laws related to the farming of hemp. SB 6 does not impact the sale or use of CBD or CBG products.

Rep. Tony Gonzales Leads the Way in Combating Oil Theft in West Texas  

Congressman Gonzales has reintroduced the Protect the Permian Act in the U.S. House of Representatives. According to the Real Clear Politics average of presidential approval polls, Trump, on Aug. 13, 2025, had a rating of 45.8%. G.W. Bush on Aug. 13, 2005, registered a 43.2% rating. Obama, on Aug. 13, 2013, stood at 43.8%.
