The Capital Gains Inflation Relief Act indexes certain assets to inflation for the purpose of determining a gain or loss which ensures the capital gains tax is treated equitably to other sections of the federal tax code, such as individual income tax brackets, the standard deduction, and income thresholds of certain tax credits. Sen. Cruz’s previously introduced legislation has been updated to include digital assets.

State Wildlife Action Plans (SWAPs) are developed and submitted by states to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) to identify non-game species of greatest conservation need, so they don’t become threatened or endangered. Currently, there is no deadline for FWS to approve a complete SWAP once submitted by a state, and in most cases, approval can take over 18 months. 45 states have SWAPs due this year alone.

In his last “State of the Union” speech, on February 4, 2020, then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was so enraged that she tore up his written remarks. Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar today said state sales tax revenue totaled $3.8 billion in February, 4.3% more than in February 2024. Total sales tax revenue for the three months ending in February 2025 was up 4% compared with the same period a year ago. Sales tax is the largest source of state funding for the state budget, accounting for 58% of all tax collections.

One of the more baffling lawsuits in the final days of the Biden Administration was the complaint against Zelle, the popular money transfer network. The Consumer Finance Protection Bureau argued that – despite Zelle's service being free – the network's users were being ripped off. Now that the Trump White House has all but closed the CFPB down, the lingering lawsuit is the first of many that should be tossed out. The very people CFPB purports to be protecting, would be the victims here.

Here's a Novel Idea: Congress, the Trump White House, and DOGE could go a long way toward protecting the "Private Information & Data" of everyday Americans by reducing the amount of government regulation that collects so much of the stuff in the first place. This is precisely why the work of DOGE is so important – no matter how much barking comes out of D.C.'s Big Government Defenders.  Perhaps DOGE should look into Sunday's "60 Minutes" report detailing how the data of 250,000 American Taxpayers wasn't protected.

It's time for all of us to ensure that those working tirelessly to root out waste, fraud and abuse in Washington, D.C. don't fall for the “fake news” that the media and others are spreading. Nationwide political chatter is focused on cleaning up the D.C. Swamp, cutting billions of fat in absentee employees, and stopping the Scandalous Boondoggle Spending – which is long, long overdue. In April of 2023, the biggest theft of citizens’ money happened when a foreign syndicate purchased 26 million $1 tickets in the Lotto Texas game. The winning prize had reached $95 million. Those tickets were all bought within 72 hours of the winning numbers being announced. The Lottery Commission not only inexplicably allowed this to happen but also provided extraordinary assistance in facilitating the printing of these tickets in several courier locations, one of which had little to no experience in printing tickets.
