In response, Israel launched overnight military strikes, successfully eliminating some of Iran’s top military leaders, damaging one of its nuclear sites, and preventing Iran’s ability to retaliate by taking out missile launchers in Iran. Let me be clear: Israel has the absolute right to defend itself, and I proudly stand with our ally as it confronts the existential threat posed by a nuclear-armed Iran.
We are told that either today or tomorrow Senate Finance Committee Chairman Mike Crapo will announce his draft plan for the Senate version of the One Big Beautiful Bill. Time to go from good to great.
H.Res.137 – "The Bipartisan Frederick Douglass Press Gallery Renaming Resolution" by unanimous, bipartisan, voice vote to officially name the U.S. House of Representatives Press Gallery after the legendary abolitionist, writer, and statesman. H.Res.137 is co-sponsored by Representatives Andre Carson (D-IN), Steven Horsford (D-NV), Wesley Hunt (R-TX), Burgess Owens (R-UT), John James (R-MI) and was advanced to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives by the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee on April 2, 2025.
After Israel took out at least two of Iran's top scientists behind the development of nuclear weapons (and promised to kill more), my high school fight song came to mind. At football games after a touchdown we sang, "Hit 'em hard and hit 'em again. Show 'em now that we're gonna win..." That is precisely what Israel has done in several strikes against its mortal enemy that has threatened to exterminate the Jewish state.
Israel took action to defend itself from a potential nuclear attack by striking Iranian nuclear sites and military leadership — including their top military official. Prime Minister Netanyahu was clear: The alternative to diplomacy would be strikes on Iran — a message he reiterated to me when I met with him earlier this month. Unfortunately, the Iranian Regime chose not to take the path of peace, instead prioritizing its nuclear ambitions over the well-being of its own people.
Last week I participated in a House Oversight Committee hearing to examine the growing concerns about Americans’ genetic data in light of 23-and-Me’s recent Bankruptcy Filing. As personal DNA Data becomes more accessible and commercially valuable, we must ensure it's not vulnerable to misuse, exploitation, or sale to foreign adversaries. The privacy of genetic information is a consumer protection AND National Security and Biomedical Research Issue.
Saturday, we celebrated 250 years of the United States Army — two and a half centuries of Courage, Sacrifice, and Unwavering Service to our great Nation. Serving in the U.S. Army was one of the greatest honors of my life. It gave me a deeper appreciation for this country, the men and women who wear the uniform, and the high calling to defend liberty. Every day, our soldiers stand ready to protect the freedoms we hold dear and uphold the values that make America exceptional.
I can’t ascribe a reason why these people – not just in America, but around the world – seem to be hype-men for the Mullahs of Iran, but my suspicion runs the gambit. Some, I’m sure, do it out of what they view as "principle," but what those principles are will forever remain a mystery. There has to be a serious price for that – but thanks to Democrats, they haven’t paid much of one. Don't forget, we have the biggest stick, and I’m not talking about nuclear.
Why are prices rising faster in blue states? Why is gas at the pump $1.50 a gallon more in California than the rest of the country? Blue-State America's got much higher inflation rates than Red States. The leftwing West Coast States and the Northeast New England States have the worst inflation – and meanwhile, the lowest rates in the nation by a relatively wide margin are in...
Governor Greg Abbott today signed House Joint Resolution 1, House Bill 9, House Bill 346, House Bill 2464, and House Bill 5195 into law to support Texas' small businesses while virtually attending the Houston Regional Business Coalition luncheon. Passed during the 89th Regular Legislative Session, these new laws will accelerate the process for starting a business in Texas and cut unnecessary government regulations on small businesses.

Texas Land Commissioner and Veterans Land Board (VLB) Chairwoman Dawn Buckingham, M.D., is honored to celebrate the courageous women who have served our great country on Women's Veterans Day, which recognizes and remembers the signing of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act, allowing women the right to permanently serve in the regular armed forces.
The entire career of race-baiter Al Sharpton was founded on falsehoods about the Tawana Brawley scam. Nearly everything the left told us about the Trayvon Martin fight was false. The "hands up, don't shoot" Ferguson fable and the Covington Kids myth were quickly exposed. The Duke Lacrosse and Jussie Smollett melodramas were laughable. Abrego Garcia became a "Maryland Man": a supposed poor victim of Trump overreach.
In 1992 I patrolled parts of LA during the Rodney King Riots. Looters ran wild, businesses burned, and chaos reigned – until Republican Gov. Pete Wilson & President George H.W. Bush called up the National Guard and invoked "The Insurrection Act," sending 3,500 Federal Troops, active duty Army & Marines, to back 10,000 Federalized Guardsmen. I was a California Army National Guard Captain, order swiftly returned – and it worked.
This week, Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) advanced the Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26) Military Construction and Veterans Affairs (MILCON-VA) funding bill out of the House Appropriations Committee, which he serves on. Congressman Gonzales drafted several key provisions in the bill that benefit Texas military installations and veteran communities from South to West Texas, including El Paso and San Antonio. This legislation fully funds VA benefits and programs.
June 6th was Naloxone Awareness Day – a day to recognize the life-saving power of naloxone and the urgent need to confront our nation’s drug epidemic. Naloxone is a medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose and save lives. I commend the David & Jackie Siegel and the Victoria’s Voice Foundation for their tireless advocacy and leadership in raising awareness and expanding access to this critical tool.
President Donald Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced a proposal to roll back the Biden Administration’s rules dictating carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions for fossil fuel-based power plants. Following the announcement, Texas Railroad Commissioner Wayne Christian said; “President Trump is continuing his promise to roll back Biden’s onerous regulatory regime and put America back on a path toward Energy Dominance."
