"Although the New World screwworm fly is not yet present in Texas or the U.S., its northward spread from Mexico toward the U.S. southern border poses a serious threat to Texas' livestock industry and wildlife. State law authorizes me to act to prevent a threat of infestation that could cause severe damage to Texas property, and I will not wait for such harm to reach our livestock and wildlife."
Trump tapped Kevin Warsh to be the next Fed chairman. He’s a superb choice and one we’ve been pushing for more than a year. Congrats, Mr. President. You hit the bullseye. Unlike the failed tenure of Jerome Powell, Warsh is not political; he is not an inflationist, and he rejects the economic mysticism that printing money causes growth. We’re worried about the dollar’s decline and we hope Warsh reverses that trend.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, spoke yesterday to commemorate the 67 lives lost one year ago today when a U.S. Army helicopter collided with American Airlines Flight 5342. At the memorial, “Honoring the 67 & Unsung Heroes,” Sen. Cruz commended the families who worked closely with him to develop the ROTOR Act, turning their grief into advocacy to make American skies and the flying public safer.
At the midway point of National School Choice Week and with just a week remaining before applications open on Feb. 4, Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock is encouraging families to visit Education Freedom website to get ready for the launch of Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA). More than 1,400 private schools and education providers across Texas have already registered to participate, with the number growing daily.
On Wednesday at the Trump Accounts Summit, I witnessed something rare in modern politics: a bold policy vision that places the American family, not bureaucracy or Wall Street, at the center of our nation’s future prosperity. As I walked into the historic Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium, famously named after a giant of American industry and our nation’s 49th U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, I saw not only high-powered business leaders and philanthropists, but I saw families.
"Under Texas law, ‘the Texas Attorney General is the only elected official charged with regulating’ non-profits that may be violating the law – including examining their records and stripping their Corporate Charters," said Gov. Greg Abbott earlier today, demanding that Ken Paxton and the Office of the Attorney General use its authority to strip the non-profit status of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and eliminate its ability to operate in Texas.
“Democrats are using this tragedy to try to force government funding changes that they know can't be done before the current Continuing Resolution expires,” said Sen. Cornyn today from the Senate Floor. "In order for President Trump to continue the work he's started, and to restore trust between Local & Federal Officials in Minnesota, the Department of Homeland Security – and yes, that includes ICE & Border Patrol – must be funded.
At first glance, capping credit card interest rates sounds like a simple solution to a real concern as households face rising costs and mounting consumer debt. Families are feeling stretched and policymakers are right to look for ways to provide relief, but good intentions do not always lead to good outcomes. And, over the past several decades the U.S. financial system has made meaningful progress in expanding access to credit across income levels and communities.
The framers of the Constitution understood political power with a level of sophistication unmatched in their era. In a matter of months, 55 delegates constructed a governing framework that has outlasted monarchies, empires, and ideological revolutions. Nearly 250 years later, the United States remains the most stable and influential republic in the world because the framers designed a system that restrains ambition, divides authority, and prevents any single institution from controlling public life.
This bill is designed to ensure that U.S. businesses are not unfairly targeted or stripped of their assets when operating abroad. The need for this legislation is clear. For years, the Mexican government has been attempting to seize control of a deep-water port owned by U.S.-based Vulcan Materials Company. This action directly violates the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) that governs trade between our countries, and threatens American jobs and economic interests.
The new 2025 State Population Data has just been released by the Census Bureau, and our world-class demographer Wendell Cox has analyzed the numbers. Nine of the 10 fastest growing states were in the Southeast & Southwest, and two of the surprise winners were the Carolinas - North and South. Texas ranked 2nd for new arrivals, and the 5-year net domestic migration numbers confirm the sad, ongoing collapse of California.
Four student drone teams from Harmony School of Excellence – a Title 1 Campus serving a high percentage of Economically Disadvantaged Students – have qualified to compete at the 2026 Aerial Drone Competition Championship in Frisco, Texas. The teams — the Flying Chihuahuas, Flying Raccoons, Pixie Pilots, and the Rotor Monkeys — earned their spot through strong performances in Regional Competitions.
The Big Apple is about to take on a new name – Tent City, or Filth City. Since now-Mayor Mamdani previewed his "Homeless Encampments Policy" in December, new encampments are emerging in many neighborhoods. The consequences are dire both for vagrants – and for the city's viability. Between Friday, when the city was hit with a bone-chilling winter storm, and Sunday night, eight people were found dead outdoors.
With no winning message on the horizon, when Democrats threaten Immigration Enforcement Officers and attack ICE Agents as villains, they are not winning over undecided voters – they're signaling their willingness to burn down the institutions our Public Leaders are supposed to defend and are turning to protests and manufactured outrage in desperation. Betting that chaos can help win an election is a very dangerous – and a very High-Risk Gamble.
Governor Greg Abbott today updated the state’s list of prohibited technologies for State Employees and devices. Done in consultation with Texas Cyber Command Chief, Vice Admiral TJ White (USN, Ret.), here's the list of technologies added to the prohibited technology list, including additional restrictions on hardware, AI, and software affiliated with China and the Chinese Communist Party.
“This partnership between the U.S. Dept. of Commerce and USA Rare Earth will help break China’s hold on rare earth minerals, strengthen our national security, and create jobs here in Texas – and this $1.6 billion investment signifies the Trump Admin’s commitment to bolstering mine-to-magnet production within the U.S.,” said Texas GLO Comm. Dawn Buckingham of the Round Top Mountain location.
Minnesota has always been an odd, progressive political animal – even a little bit loony; the Common Loon is the State Bird – and Leftist Politics have had a home there longer than most realize. The last time the "Land of 10,000 Lakes" actually voted to elect a Republican president was 1972 when Richard Nixon won a 49-state victory. But Republicans are close to taking back power, and a victory there would deliver a huge blow to Democrat power across the country.
Americans sent us here to fix Washington — and this is what it looks like. The naysayers said it couldn’t be done, but they were wrong. With this vote, the House completed all 12 Appropriations Bills through "Regular Order" for the first time in years – and funds the Federal Government at lower levels than a Continuing Resolution while replacing massive Biden-era spending with Trump-era policies.
