In response to the recent increase in threats toward Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) introduced the Bulletproof Law Enforcement Vehicles Act to expand existing Department of Homeland Security (DHS) resources for law enforcement vehicle security upgrades. The Bulletproof Law Enforcement Vehicles Act is endorsed by the Police Officers' Defense Coalition, the Texas Border Sheriff's Coalition, and the Southwest Border Sheriff's Coalition.

The challenge will be in the Senate, where at least seven Democrats are needed to join 53 Republicans to reach the 60 needed to pass the filibuster plateau. Should this bill be passed and signed into law? Absolutely. The core premise of this bill is beyond any question or dispute -- that anyone voting in a federal election must be a U.S. citizen and provide documentation to prove it.

Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock announced today that more than 42,000 students applied for Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) on Feb. 4th, the first day of the program’s launch. The total represents a nationwide record for most enrollments for day one of a new school choice program, surpassing Tennessee’s 33,000 student applications in 2025. As of 11 a.m. today, more than 46,000 students had applied.
Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Military Preparedness Commission (TMPC) today announced a $17 million loan from the Texas Military Value Revolving Loan Fund (TMVRLF) to the city of Del Rio. The funds will be used to rehabilitate the San Felipe East Springs Containment Wall and expand and modernize the City of Del Rio’s Water Treatment Plant. The two water projects will add resiliency to the water capacity of the City of Del Rio and the Laughlin Air Force Base.

“By making it illegal to transport a minor to another state for an abortion without abiding by the relevant laws and parental consent requirements, this bill would honor the rights of parents, protect children, and save our most vulnerable lives,” said Sen. John Cornyn, pushing the "Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act" to make it a crime to knowingly transport a minor across state lines for an abortion.
