Governor Abbott noted his declaration in the State of the State address that it is time for Texas to lead the nuclear renaissance. Governor Abbott highlighted that in June he signed House Bill 14 into law, which established the Texas Advanced Nuclear Energy Office (TANEO) and created a $350 million Texas Advanced Nuclear Development Fund to incentivize the development of the nuclear energy industry in Texas.

It’s extremely disappointing that we are now on day 20, in week three of the Democrats’ reckless and entirely preventable Government Shutdown. Senate Democrats have voted 10 separate times to keep the government closed — making it clear they’d rather put politics ahead of the American people. But on a positive note, oil prices have dropped to their lowest level since early 2021, and gas prices in Texas are well below $3.00 a gallon.

Late last week, on the 17th day of the Government Shutdown, Senate Democrats voted "no" for a 10th time on a clean, non-partisan bill to re-open the government. They own this shutdown — and the pain it's causing. Shutdowns are bad for the American people — that's why I've never voted for one. Senator Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer even went so far as to say last week, "Every day gets better for us."

Yesterday was the “No Showers”... I mean, the “No Kings” rally. A bunch of unlovable, older Americans (by & large,) took time away from cyber-stalking the Social Media people they subscribe to and got a little free sunlight and Vitamin D to fight off the onset of rickets. And for the first time in years, the nation's major liberal cities went from smelling like pot and tear gas, to smelling like pot and tear gas and body odor, because that’s how liberals roll.

U.S. Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) introduced The Advancing Research in Nuclear Fuel Recycling Act of 2025. The bill requires the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to carry out a study analyzing the costs, benefits, and risks of recycling the nation’s spent nuclear fuel, especially as compared to interim storage solutions. Sen. Cruz first introduced this legislation in 2024 during the 118th Congress.

At the direction of Governor Abbott, DPS law enforcement personnel, including state troopers, Special Agents, and Texas Rangers, along with Texas National Guard soldiers, will be surged to the Austin area to maintain law and order. This is in addition to the thousands of DPS troopers already stationed throughout the state. DPS' Homeland Security Division is actively monitoring the planned protest in Austin, as well as across the state.

Today marks Day 17 of the Government Shutdown. The Senate still has not passed the House-passed Continuing Resolution, which would reopen the government at previously approved funding levels. I was in Washington this week to advocate for fixing, not fighting. Democrats chose to continue to blocking paychecks & Federal Programs. Each week the shutdown costs our economy an estimated $15 billion in GDP.

On Thursday, Senate Democrats voted for the 10th time to prolong the federal government shutdown. They also voted against funding the military, thereby necessitating that the Pentagon initiate some innovative accounting in order to ensure service members are paid on time. Most commonsense Americans understand that there is no reason paying America's warriors should be held hostage to arcane debates over housing policy.

Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) announced the City of El Paso will receive $2.25 million in funding from the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) through the Department of Justice (DOJ). This award is administered under the COPS Hiring Program (CHP) and will be used to onboard 18 additional police officers in El Paso. 

“This investment will further grow our power supply, and keep prices affordable for homes & businesses in North Texas. We will ensure continued reliability for all Texans as we add more power and fortify the state grid,” said Gov. Greg Abbott earlier today, announcing the fourth "Texas Energy Fund" (TxEF) loan agreement for a 460 megawatt natural gas power plant in Fairfield, Texas.

The bad news is that because of anti-mining restrictions that date back to the Clinton era, the U.S. is now needlessly reliant on a Chinese monopoly of critical minerals which they are exploiting to threaten the U.S. with an embargo of metals needed for technology, manufacturing, microchips, etc. The good news is, no nation on earth has more Rare Earth Minerals than we do – and they're valued AT more than $12 trillion.

Before each regular legislative session, the Comptroller's office issues a Biennial Revenue Estimate (BRE) that estimates how much revenue will be available for spending in the state's next two-year budget cycle. After the session — and this year after two special sessions — the agency releases the CRE to provide the detailed basis by which the Comptroller certified the budget and any other bills making appropriations.

The last two decades in Texas have proven the need for trained "Surge Forces" to meet disasters such as Hurricanes, Tornadoes, Flooding & other missions such as Border Operations. The challenge for Texas is that these surge forces often cost millions to prepare, or are delayed in deployment due to various factors. But the most recent Special Legislative Session calls for forces like the Texas State Guard to meet the needs of Texas.

But he turned down offers from what Democrat & Radical Left protesters are calling "No Kings" demonstrations for Saturday, telling Fox News, “My concern is that there are forces — some domestic, some maybe foreign — that actually want to pull America apart.” Brace yourself for another round of potentially violent "Peaceful Protests."

"Every day gets better for us," said Senate Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer last week, as he continues to lead Democrats against voting for the same non-partisan funding bill that Democrats voted for 13 times under President Biden. They could vote to reopen the government at any moment, but instead ignore Americans' pain – supposedly for their own political gain. Almost a month ago, on September 19th, the House passed its own non-partisan bill.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and Speaker of the Texas House Dustin Burrows today announced the Senate and House General Investigating Committees on the July 2025 Flooding Events. Created by Senate Resolution 2 and House Resolution 177 during the 2nd Special Session, these committees will meet jointly. Upon announcement, Lt. Gov. Patrick and Speaker Burrows named Committee Members, and gave instructions.

Democrats shut down the government for one thing: their pandemic-era Obamacare handouts.
