Texas Oil and Natural Gas Upstream Jobs Grew by 1,400 in October

New data from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) indicate that upstream oil and natural gas employment grew by 1,400 in October compared to September. These data mark six out of nine months so far this calendar year in which the job count has increased, and the fifth monthly increase in a row. Since the COVID-low point of September of 2020, the industry has added 39,100 Texas upstream jobs, averaging growth of 798 jobs per month.

Gov. Abbott Issues Executive Order Targeting Chinese Communist Party’s Harassment of Texans

"Ensuring the safety, welfare, and well-being of Texans is a top priority. Texas will not tolerate the harassment or coercion of the more than 250,000 individuals of Chinese descent who legally call Texas home," said Gov. Greg Abbott of the coordinated harassment and coercion by the People's Republic of China (PRC) or the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). New Record High for Texas Civilian Labor Force After Adding 47,300

Texas’ labor market achieved a new record high in October for number of people in the civilian labor force. After adding 47,300 people over the month, the seasonally adjusted civilian labor force reached the new record high of 15,497,100. This marks the tenth consecutive month of growth for Texas’ civilian labor force. Over the year, Texas’ civilian labor force has added 360,800 people.

“Texas is the No. 1 state for semiconductor manufacturing, leading the nation as the top exporter of semiconductors and other electronic components for the last 13 years,” said Gov. Greg Abbott earlier today, announcing the first Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund (TSIF) grant of $4,120,000 to Intelligent Epitaxy Technology, Inc. (“IntelliEPI”) for their new 30,000-square-foot wafer production facility in Allen, Texas. Hegar Distributes $1.2 Billion in Sales Tax Revenue to Local Governments

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced today that – based on businesses sales made in the month of September – he will send the state's Cities, Counties, Transit Systems, and Special Purpose Districts $1.2 billion in Local Sales Tax Allocations for November, which represents an increase of 1.1% more than in November 2023.
