The way to lower prices is greater efficiency in businesses delivering the products and services we care about. The government's role in this is to remove, to the greatest extent possible, unnecessary regulations and taxes. However, for those who love political power, the way to lower prices -- to "affordability" -- is subsidies. Shield those whom you want to depend on you from the true costs of what they are consuming.
In collaboration with the Houston Police Department and other Local & Federal Law Enforcement partners, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is placing a renewed focus on repeat offenders who are prone to violent criminal acts. Law enforcement identifies offenders and prioritizes Field Operations to ensure compliance with any court-ordered conditions - and arrested those terrorizing Texas communities.
The hospitals and doctors aren’t the only people ripping off the medical system and causing costs to skyrocket. The states are also bilking Federal Taxpayers out of tens of billions of dollars, as reported last week. No governor is more guilty of this scam than Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. Why stop with Minnesota? Any state, Red or Blue, caught defrauding federal taxpayers should be penalized by being cut out of the program.
After an Emergency Meeting of the Leander ISD Board of Trustees last week, one thing became abundantly clear and should be at the forefront of everyone's mind as we continue to navigate the financial challenges facing the District: the Leander Board of Trustees needs to reassert our collective leadership role in the process – and our outgoing Superintendent even said as much. We should take him up on it.
"Veterans make up nearly a quarter of all deaths by suicide. I served in the Navy for 20 years — and I'll always stand with my brothers and sisters to ensure they get the care they've earned in their hour of need,” said Cong. Tony Gonzales. “The bipartisan VA 'Zero Suicide Demonstration Project Act' builds upon the VA’s prevention efforts, and it’s on us to fight for them in VA Medical Centers across the country,” said Gonzales and Nevada Congresswoman Susie Lee.
American companies are being unfairly penalized for pollution originating outside the United States. We’ve seen how even the mention of a nonattainment designation, like when the Biden EPA threatened to redesignate the Permian Basin, can create significant uncertainty for businesses and communities. These designations delay permits and hurt economic growth, while failing to address the very problem they are trying to solve.
Governor Greg Abbott today emphasized the importance of TPUSA Club America chapter enrollment and involvement on high school campuses across the state. During his remarks, the Governor recognized Charlie Kirk's life and legacy that strengthened the conservative movement and expanded it to youth across the country. Governor Abbott touted that Texas has the most Club America chapters of any state, and that the state will create an environment where Club America can expand and flourish.
This year's $1 million award - the "Pulitzer Prize for Education Innovation" - went to Chesterton Schools Network (CSN), which has opened 70 affordable classical high schools across the country, stressing a rigorous curriculum, character formation and a love of learning. Chesterton's model is so popular with parents and kids that it is on pace to expand to 150 high schools in states that allow education freedom.
“Washington, D.C. has become a case study of what happens when crime goes unchecked, and small businesses are left defenseless. Under the Joe Biden-Kamala Harris administration, our nation's capital deteriorated into a place where shop owners are forced to worry more about theft, vandalism, and violent crime than about serving their customers. Recently, I led a U.S. House Committee on Small Business hearing on the impact of crime on Main Street."
This legislation is endorsed by the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO), Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA), Major County Sheriffs of America (MCSA), National Narcotic Officers’ Associations’ Coalition (NNOAC), Association of State Criminal Investigative Agencies (ASCIA), and the Sergeants Benevolent Association NYPD.
We know this'll knock you right off your chair, but, it turns out one of the major climate change apocalypse studies has been retracted. A highly cited study, published last year in the prestigious journal Nature, predicted that the world's economic output would drop by multiple trillions – a decline of 62% by the end of the century – if drastic anti-fossil fuel measures weren't taken. PLEASE, stop lecturing us about the fabricated “settled science”!
It is with a heavy heart that I write to you about the horrific attack on two members of the National Guard in Washington, D.C. Sarah Beckstrom, 20, and Andrew Wolfe, 24, were ambushed while serving our nation, standing watch to protect our capital. Tragically, Sarah lost her life in this horrific act of violence, and Andrew remains in critical condition, fighting for his life. These are young patriots who volunteered to serve and protect the American people.
Governor Greg Abbott reappointed Theresa Chang and Karen Partee to the Texas Commission on the Arts for terms set to expire on August 31, 2031. The Commission fosters the development of a receptive climate for the arts that will culturally enrich and benefit state citizens in their daily lives and attract outstanding artists to become state residents.
The Woke, the Left, a good Socialist Democrat never tires of finding causes to fight for. "Stand with Ukraine! Free Palestine! No One is Illegal!" Did I forget any other empty slogans? Whatever declares war on the West, undermines natural law and basic reality, and places power above principle, the Left lines up for the kill. But there's one slogan that has disappeared, one fight which has fizzled out: The Climate Change Cult.
Governor Greg Abbott announced that a Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund (TSIF) grant of $9.8 million has been extended to Temple College for a new Central Texas Chips Hub in Taylor. This is the second TSIF grant to a Texas higher education institution. Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller today praised the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for granting conditional approval of Exzolt Cattle-CA1, the first topical drug ever approved in the United States to treat and control both New World screwworm and Cattle Fever Tick in cattle. Miller called the decision a landmark achievement for livestock health and a major victory for the nation’s cattle industry.
