Governor Greg Abbott today provided an update on Texas’ ongoing response to severe winter weather expected to impact large portions of the state this weekend following a briefing with state officials at the State Operations Center in Austin. The Governor also issued a disaster declaration for 134 counties to ensure that every necessary resource is made available to Texans. 

The U.S. House of Representatives passed all remaining annual funding bills, keeping the federal government fully operational through the remainder of Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26). Through his seat on the House Appropriations Committee, Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) secured over $42 million in direct funding for communities across South and West Texas. To date, Congressman Gonzales has secured nearly $170 million in community investments for TX-23. 

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is currently accepting applications to serve on the Advisory Committee of the Purchasing from People with Disabilities Program, also known as the Works Wonders Program. The committee is made up of 13 members who advise TWC on matters relating to the Works Wonders program. Works Wonders assists individuals with disabilities in achieving independence through productive employment.

According to Minnesota’s political class—and the federal judge they are hoping will indulge them—federal immigration law is binding except when local officials find it inconvenient, uncomfortable, or politically risky.
