Governor Greg Abbott today announced the selection of 13 members to serve on the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board's (THECB) working group, created under his directive to develop a statewide framework for establishing three-year bachelor’s degree pathways. A 3-year bachelor's degree could reduce the cost of earning a degree by up to 25% and save Texas students between $15-$35k.

I was on an American Airlines flight destined for Pittsburgh on a business trip.  I kissed Beth and our baby daughter, Lauren, goodbye and left on what we all believed was an ordinary day.  Crossing over the Tennessee airspace, the pilot came on and announced our airplane is operating fine, there are no mechanical issues, but by the order of decree from the President of the United States every plane over the US skies is ordered to land immediately. And the microphone clicked off. 

The approval follows the Trump administration’s EPA decision to grant Texas primacy over Class VI carbon storage wells, which is a direct result of the administration’s push to cut federal red tape and return permitting authority to the state level. This approval marks the first Class VI well permit issued by the RRC since receiving delegation by the EPA. In 2025, the EPA under the Trump administration, had previously approved a Class VI well permit for the Brown Pelican Project in Ector County.

There are two types of libraries: the small ones in rural communities, and the large ones in major cities. The small ones are cesspools of left-wing propaganda – go to one and look at the children’s book section and you’ll see “graphic novels” that would put the Penthouse letters section to shame. There are drawings for kids that, if they were photographs, would be a crime. The big city libraries are glorified homeless shelters. It would be child abuse to bring your kid there without an armed guard.

Governor Greg Abbott today announced the creation of a leadership team to secure Texas as the permanent home of the United States Space Academy. Representative Greg Bonnen M.D. of Friendswood, Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, will lead the team. Texas already has the foundation a national space academy requires. NASA’s Johnson Space Center is designated as the agency's Human Spaceflight Center of Excellence and home of the astronaut corps.

The Dan Patrick Campaign is now on the air in all 20 Texas media markets and will remain on the air through Election Day. The comprehensive media buy includes broadcast television, cable, digital, and streaming advertisements in both English and Spanish.

Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D., announced that the Texas General Land Office (GLO) is launching a new effort to explore the development of geothermal energy, small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs), and natural gas plants on state lands, opening the door to new sources of dispatchable, dependable, and dominant power in Texas. The Trump administration has made rooting out fraud in Medicare and Medicaid a central pillar of its policy agenda, an effort best embodied by J.D. Vance’s Task Force to Eliminate Fraud. Their success against fraudulent billing suggests they’re making headway. Dr. Oz is right. But the rule polices only one end of the pipe. It governs what a plan pays out. It says nothing about how the money got into the plan in the first place.

The Senate unanimously passed TREY’S Law earlier this year. The roundtable will focus on building support for the legislation and encouraging the House of Representatives to pass it.

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is celebrating Adult Education and Family Literacy Week from Sept. 13-19, 2026. The week-long celebration highlights the vital role these programs play in strengthening communities and empowering Texans to learn new skills and further their education. TWC partners with local providers to offer Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) services at no cost to the student. These services help Texans learn or improve skills in reading, writing, math, and English.

Is Fetterman the last commonsense Democrat, the final holdout against a party that traded working class instincts for ideological purity tests? Probably not the last. But he may be the last one with a big enough platform and a thick enough skin to say so out loud in public, on camera, at his own party's expense. That distinction matters more than his critics want to admit. Fetterman is no conservative hero, and I'm not claiming he is. He still votes for his party most of the time.

More than 20 years ago, Texas fixed a problem that was plaguing the Healthcare Industry: runaway Medical Malpractice Lawsuits. These lawsuits were so common that doctors’ and hospitals’ malpractice premiums became unaffordable and were driving doctors out of the state. Government-controlled systems always promise lower costs and better outcomes. What they often deliver is more bureaucracy, fewer choices and less accountability. The people making the decisions are no longer patients and doctors. They are regulators, administrators and politically connected interests who never have to live with the consequences of their mistakes.
