Last week, my House Colleagues and I passed the Defense Appropriations bill to: Support our Servicemembers, Strengthen National Security, and Fulfill President Trump’s Mandate of restoring American Military Superiority. Last week, House Republicans took action to rein in Washington’s reckless spending by passing a major rescissions package that eliminated over $9 billion in wasteful programs flagged by President Trump and the Department of Government Efficiency. House Republicans are doing the hard work of digging into the bloated bureaucracy, ending ridiculous woke pet projects, and eliminating programs that insult both our intelligence and our values.

The Left Distrusts the People

From the very first day Joe Biden “took office,” there was a theme you could spot from a mile away: the Left doesn’t trust the American people. The now-infamous AutoPen moment—when Biden supposedly signed something important but never touched the pen—wasn’t just a glitch in optics. It was emblematic of a presidency constructed to appear functional, not be functional. It was a government more interested in control than connection. And it foreshadowed something far more dangerous.

STATE REP. HUNTER: Remember the Benefits of Summer Reading

The summer months are often the most anticipated months of the year – especially when there's so much to see & do across Texas. But research shows that when children read just 4 to 6 books over the summer, it prevents a decline in reading achievement from the spring to fall semesters. Even small steps are beneficial. So while summer's a great time to be outside, here's a few tips to keep our kids reading this summer.

Mamdani Isn't Inevitable. Here's How to Beat Him.

We don't have to move to Ohio to escape the Mamdani threat. The best remedy is to turn out to vote in November. New Yorkers alarmed by Zohran Mamdani's Marxist convictions, "defund the police" history and anti-Israel rhetoric keep insisting he's impossible to beat with so many candidates splitting the anti-Mamdani vote. The thinking is that with Republican Curtis Sliwa, Mayor Eric Adams and former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo all running, Mamdani's victory is inevitable.

The 'Epstein Files' Dud Doesn’t Mean Conspiracy Theories are Justified

Attorney General Pam Bondi apparently has never heard the old adage, "Under-Promise & Over-Deliver." She shouldn’t have hyped the release of materials in the past, and her failure to deliver on the promised Jeffrey Epstein "client list" is, clearly, the Trump White House's first mistake for its widespread and loyal base. But despite the natural questions surrounding the case, the wild conspiracy theories aren’t justified.

Throughout the week, I’ve joined Texans — and all Americans — in mourning the loss of more than 120 lives taken in the devastating floods that swept through Kerr County. July 4th should have been a day of celebration and joy; instead, it became a day of tragedy — one that will never be forgotten. I am continuing to pray for our communities across Central Texas, for all those who lost loved ones, and for the safe return of the individuals who remain missing.

Empowering Parents With the One Big Beautiful Bill Act

After decades of stagnant student achievement, despite a substantial 140% increase in federal education funding since 1980, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (H.R.1), signed into law on July 4, 2025, represents a bold new chapter in American education. According to the 2022 NAEP, only 13% of eighth graders are proficient in reading and just 26% in math. Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of Education’s budget ballooned to $79.8 billion. This bill takes a scalpel to that number, slashing $14.7 billion from underperforming K-12 programs like Head Start and Title IV.
