It is incredibly disappointing that we are now over a month into the Democrat shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security. Amid spring break travel, severe storms, and heightened national security threats, this prolonged funding lapse is putting Americans at risk. Over 100,000 DHS employees have yet to receive a paycheck, with reports of TSA agents sleeping in their vehicles and even donating plasma to support their families, all while continuing to protect the traveling public.
Nine Texas medical training centers will receive grant funding for forensic psychiatry fellowships for licensed physicians pursuing mental health careers in Texas. Forensic psychiatry is a subspecialty that applies to psychiatric expertise in civil, criminal, and administrative legal proceedings and includes evaluations, treatment, and research related to safety and risk mitigation. The institutions will use these grants to develop, expand, or administer accredited one-year forensic psychiatry fellowship programs.
It is incredibly disappointing that we are on day thirty-five of the Democrat shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security. Americans across the country are feeling the impact. I joined 'John Bachman Now' on Newsmax this week to call out my Democrat colleagues for keeping the DHS shutdown as Americans suffer the consequences. I also discussed why Senator Markwayne Mullin is the right person to lead the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick today created the Senate Select Committee on Religious Liberty, to be chaired by Sen. Phil King, R-Weatherford. “For the past year, I have had the honor of serving as Chairman of President Trump’s Religious Liberty Commission in Washington, D.C. Through the Commission’s important work, I have learned that many Americans, and Texans alike, do not fully understand their God-given religious liberty rights secured under the First Amendment."
One of the first things I do every morning, even before I get out of bed, is check the news to discover if something good happened while I was asleep. I rarely find any such news. Just about all that is reported is crime, war, hatred, Democrats, Washington, D.C., California, New York City, the Middle East, Congress, China, Trump is Hitler, transgenderism, promiscuity and decadence, ad nauseam, ad infinitum. Every time I see a picture of Gavin Newsom, AOC, Nancy Pelosi, or Chuck Schumer, I want to puke.
Governor Greg Abbott today celebrated the 107th birthday of the American Legion and received the National Vietnam Veterans of America State Award for Veteran Services. The Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) supports veterans who served during the Vietnam War. The American Legion has spent over a century championing veterans' benefits, patriotism, and community service.
AG Ken Paxton has sent a letter to the Collin County Commissioners Court urging the local officials to reject any plat applications by the developers behind the East Plano Islamic Center (“EPIC”) development known as EPIC City and “The Meadow Phase 1.” The letter comes after Attorney General Paxton recently sued to invalidate the illegal annexation of lands by Double R Municipal Utility District No. 2A, which appeared to be done exclusively to aid EPIC City avoid state regulatory oversight.
We have a patriotic solution, Governor. Cut your highest in the nation tax rates. Or, better yet, since you can't beat Florida, join 'em. Amazingly, Florida now has surpassed New York in population. But Albany spends twice as much as Tallahassee. Yet Florida's public services are superior to New York's. How can a state with a zero income tax have better services and less debt than a state with a top rate of 10.9% statewide and 14.8% in New York City?
The Greek American Elia Kazan's 1963 film "America," "America" is a fictional account based on the Herculean struggle of the director's uncle to immigrate to the United States from an impoverished and hostile Turkish Anatolia. The film summed up Americans' traditional view of immigrants: They had risked everything for the chance to reach America, and once there, became hyperpatriotic in their gratitude for the magnanimity of their new hosts.
By the end of his second term, we’ll either be wishing President Trump had never tried to change the world, or we’ll be carving his likeness on Mount Rushmore. But if he can do it – and Trump is a very different type of president from anyone who’s come before – and wants to build some hotels in Gaza, Tehran & Havana, I’m all for it. The history-bending initiatives he’s taking on are not only unprecedented, but could make life far better for the rest of us.
Gov. Greg Abbott announced earlier today that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved a request from the State of Texas for a Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG) for the Corner Pocket Fire in Donley County that damaged homes and infrastructure in the Texas Panhandle and forced local evacuations. As of this morning, the Corner Pocket Fire had burned some 234 acres and was 100% contained.
"The Polisario Front is working with Iranian Terrorist Groups, receiving drones from the IRGC, and moving weapons around the region on behalf of the Iranian Regime," said Sen. Ted Cruz, as he and Senators Tom Cotton and Rick Scott introduced the "Polisario Front Terrorist Designation Act of 2026" to require the U.S. Sect. of State to designate the group as a terrorist organization if confirmed the there is cooperatiosn with Iranian groups already designated as terrorist organizations.
Having just recently secured the Democrat's U.S. Senate Nomination in Texas, shocking statements & videos of State Rep. James Talarico have made national headlines – including his declaring there are “six genders,” God is “non-binary,” and using the Biblical account of Jesus's parents to justify elective abortions. While his holding these liberal positions is shocking to Americans newly acquainted with him, Texas Legislators have been well aware of his far-left views for years.
How bad is the problem? According to the Government Accountability Office (GAO), the federal government "loses between $233 billion and $521 billion annually to fraud in improper payments." The GAO can't give a more accurate figure because not all losses are reported. With 68 programs across 16 different agencies, a Task Force headed by Vice President JD Vance will have plenty of government waste, theft & fraud to crack down on and eliminate.
Republicans successfully brought the "SAVE America Act" to the Senate Floor for debate Tuesday, and Democrats sound like they’re in full panic mode. The talking points are predictable, and we’ve heard them all before — the usual Bogus Fear-Mongering accusations – all of it. But the concerns are all literally addressed in the text of the bill itself. So what’s the real reason they’re opposing it?
“What you’re doing is more than just a job – what you’re doing is stepping into a calling, a noble calling to serve other people," said Gov. Greg Abbott, celebrating the graduation of more than 50 Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and Certified Medication Aides (CMA,) where he was joined by Senators Adam Hinojosa and Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa, as well as State Rep. Terry Canales and Dwyer Workforce Development Founder Jack Dwyer.
“I’m glad the Senate will debate this bill and hold Democrats’ feet to the fire to see who's willing to go on the record opposing Voter ID & Proof of Citizenship to vote – things that an overwhelming majority of Texans and Americans support. Let’s get it done," said Sen. Cornyn, kicking off debate on the landmark SAVE America Act, while reiterating his support for the "talking filibuster" and larger Senate rules reforms that may be needed to get the bill to President Trump's desk as soon as possible.
So far, more than 229,000 students have applied, and 2,200 schools have signed up to participate. Families do not have to select a school when they submit their application, and more schools are joining the program daily. The program is not first come, first served, so all families will be considered on a level playing field within each priority tier, regardless of when their application is submitted.
