McCAUL: Biden’s Plans Will Devastate Texas Energy, Industries & Jobs

"Yesterday I met with Texas energy representatives who expressed their concern with Biden’s agenda, stressing that it could mean the elimination of jobs in the oil and natural gas industry. Nearly 350,000 jobs in Texas are supported by fossil fuels."

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – Since President Joe Biden has taken office he has issued 23 executive orders, many of which will directly impact the lives of Texans. This includes rolling back America’s energy independence. Most recently, the Biden administration has called to end the Keystone pipeline construction and has placed a 60-day moratorium on new oil and gas leases and permits on federal lands.

This is costing American workers their jobs and also our country’s energy independence - leaving our country vulnerable and reliant on foreign oil.

Yesterday I met with Texas energy representatives who expressed their concern with Biden’s agenda stressing that it could mean the elimination of jobs in the oil and natural gas industry. Nearly 350,000 jobs in Texas are supported by fossil fuels.

If President Biden took the time to meet with the hardworking men and women in the energy industry, like I have done, he would come to understand how devastating his policies are to their livelihoods. By ending job-creating projects like the Keystone Pipeline, the Biden Administration is presenting a gift to adversarial states, like Russia and China, and the OPEC cartel while wiping out American jobs and damaging our relationship with Canada.

The U.S. is on the brink of becoming a leader in exporting fossil fuels, and this will only set back our energy independence, leaving us vulnerable to the inevitable malign attempts of our adversaries.

What People are Saying... In the Paper
Houston Chronicle/Katy Sun: U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul, Katy pipeline construction company blast Biden's energy plans

Congressman Michael McCaul, R-Texas, and other members of the Houston-area delegation visited the Ship Channel on Tuesday to meet with energy workers and address their concerns regarding President Biden’s energy plans.

McCaul, whose 10th Congressional District encompasses Katy and much of west Houston, spoke out against the new energy plan, which will have a major impact on District 10’s economy, he said.

Biden’s new energy plan, McCaul contended, will desolate oil field-related economies, cost the American people millions of jobs and leave the U.S. vulnerable to other global oil giants.
