Brady Supports President’s Decision to Give Taxpayers the Option to Extend Tax Filings to July 15

“I encourage the IRS to continue using all their resources to implement this and other new tax changes targeted to help all Americans during this difficult time.”

Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – (THE WOODLANDS, TX) -- The top Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee Kevin Brady (R-TX) released the following statement after Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced President Trump’s decision to move the deadline for tax filing to July 15. Taxpayers can still file their taxes and seek a refund now.

“I applaud the President and Secretary Mnuchin for extending further relief to families and businesses. This is smart and measured leadership in the face of the novel coronavirus.

“While I still encourage taxpayers who expect to get a refund to file their taxes, this deadline extension will give everyone maximum flexibility to do what is best for them. This action will help protect seniors and others who are more vulnerable and may need extra time and help filing their taxes.

“I encourage the IRS to continue using all their resources to implement this and other new tax changes targeted to help all Americans during this difficult time.”
