Cong. Williams Highlights TX-25 Business Leader Natasha Hudson During National Small Business Week

"Her story is inspiring and I am proud of her contributions, and the contributions of thousands of TX-25 small business to our local and national economy.”

Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25) was honored to host TX-25 business owner Natasha Hudson during the House Small Business Committee’s “National Small Business Week: Celebrating our Main Street Champions” hearing.

Mrs. Hudson discussed her passion for the music business and how the Congressman’s "Save Our Stages Act," which created the Shuttered Venues Operator Grant, helped save her music venue business.

“My bipartisan Save our Stages Act, which was signed into law in December 2020 by President Trump, created the Shuttered Venues Operator Grant (SVOG) which created targeted, financial assistance for theaters and venues who were the first to close and last to reopen due to COVID-19. As a small business owner for over 50 years, I recognize how the forced government closures affected business owners.

"In light of National Small Business Week, I was honored to invite Natasha to share her personal story on the SVOG application process, and how the Small Business Administration’s mishandling of the grant program slowed the Hudson’s on Mercer Street recovery. Her story is inspiring and I am proud of her contributions, and the contributions of thousands of TX-25 small business to our local and national economy.”

Background on Natasha Hudson:
Natasha and her husband Chad own Hudson’s On Mercer Street, a live music venue in Dripping Springs, Texas. After teaching music out of her home for two years, Natasha expanded the business to a 4,000 square foot event space and hired a teaching staff of 12. Hudson’s provides a wide range of range of services to the community, from giving music lessons to aspiring artists to providing a venue for local foundations to raise money and make an impact on a variety of causes. Her hope to spread the power of music and the arts to the community has made Hudson’s the place for nightlife and community events in Dripping Springs.
