In First-Ever Republican Win, Lujan Carries Special Election for Texas House Dist. 118

John Lujan defeats Democrat Frank Ramirez 51% to 49% on Tuesday

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – Republican John Lujan won a traditionally Democrat-held Texas State House seat Tuesday in a district covering the southern portion of San Antonio that President Joe Biden won in November by 14%.

Lujan defeated Democrat Frank Ramirez 51% to 49% on Tuesday to take the Texas House District 118 race. District 118 seat was previously held by Democrat Leo Pacheco, who had resigned.

This Special Election in Texas may be a sign that Democrats are in trouble in South Texas – and also nationwide.

Lujan, a former Law e=Enforcement Officer and veteran firefighter in Bexar County, claimed victory in a statement as being the only Republican ever to win this seat, stating the win as one for “conservatism” among Hispanics.
