Commending Secretary Rubio on Backing Words with Action
Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – When the Biden administration abdicated its federal duty to secure the homeland, Texas stood in the gap — spending $11.1 billion on Operation Lone Star to defend this nation and its borders. Our state bore the brunt of the chaos and suffering caused by the open border crisis, and it deserves to be paid back for its efforts.
That’s why I worked extensively with Governor Abbott and House GOP leadership to help secure $13.5 billion in the One Big Beautiful Bill to reimburse border states for securing the border during the Biden administration. After months of consistently encouraging DHS to move forward with the program, I’m extremely glad that they finally announced grant applications are open — and I know Texas will quickly apply.
Moving forward, I will continue urging DHS to consider Texas’ role as a front line of defense for our nation throughout those four years and award the lion’s share of the funds to our state. Texans should never have been forced to foot the bill for President Biden’s dereliction of duty; it’s time to set things right.
Commending Secretary Rubio on Backing Words with Action
In 1979, when the Iranian regime came to power, a dark veil of terror descended over the Middle East. Every president since then has said that a nuclear Iran is unacceptable.
In fact, when I chaired the House Foreign Affairs Committee, the vast majority of Democrats and nearly all Republicans voted for a resolution I introduced, which said a nuclear Iran was unacceptable and the U.S. must use "any means necessary" to prevent them from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
Yet no administration put action behind those words — until now. At this week's hearing with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, I commended the Trump administration for its work to ensure Iran never goes nuclear. Click below to watch my full exchange with the secretary.
Discussing World Cup, America250 Security with Secretary Mullin
With less than one week until the first FIFA World Cup match on American soil, preparations for the games — and their security — are in full swing. While the World Cup and America250 celebrations will provide exciting opportunities to showcase American excellence, we also know our foreign adversaries may seek to use mass gatherings like these as a backdrop to attack our freedoms and spread fear.
As chairman of the Homeland Security Committee’s Task Force on Enhancing Security for Special Events, I have worked extensively with the Department of Homeland Security and the White House’s Special Events Task Force to bolster security at these exciting events. At this week’s committee hearing, I asked DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin about the status of security preparations and our ability to thwart any potential drone attacks.
We also discussed the role of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) — which was created by legislation I authored as chairman — in thwarting cyber attacks as our world grows increasingly dependent on technology. Click below to watch our full exchange.
An Exciting Future for Grimes County and Texas-10
This week, Grimes County commissioners voted to approve agreements that will pave the way for SpaceX to build its new Terafab project, a cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturing facility, in the heart of Texas' 10th district.
I congratulate my constituents and Judge Fauth, who described this project as a "generational change" for the county, on this incredible project that will bring billions of dollars to the local economy. In addition, it will ensure Texas-10 leads the production of American-made semiconductor chips — bolstering our national security for years to come.

Standing Against Russian Tyranny
For the past four years, Russia has committed war crimes against the country of Ukraine — from raping women to killing innocent civilians to kidnapping children and sending them to the frontlines. In recent days, Putin has only increased his barbaric attacks — firing a third hypersonic missile at Kyiv and further reiterating his utter disdain for peace.
This week, I voted with many of my colleagues in the House of Representatives to pass the Ukraine Support Act, legislation to sanction Russia and bolster Ukraine's fight. Putin's ambitions extend far beyond Ukraine. As President Trump works to negotiate an end to this brutal war, I believe this bipartisan vote will only increase his leverage — sending a strong message to Ukraine that we support them and a clear message to Putin that we stand against Russian tyranny
