PATRICK: Texas Senate Faced Unprecedented Challenges, and Passed 28 of my 30 Priorities

"I want to thank the Texas Senate for their hard work this session. They're all public servants who serve with distinction."

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – “During the 2021 Legislative Session, the Texas Senate faced unprecedented challenges and demonstrated their commitment to the people of Texas again and again. They passed 28 of the 30 priorities I gave them at the beginning of the session, 20 of which have been signed into law or will be soon," said Texas' Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick shortly after gaveling out the 87th Legislative Session, sine die.

"We passed all of Gov. Abbott's emergency priorities and delivered a budget that fully funds education and keeps our commitments to health care, infrastructure and public safety – without going above the rate of inflation times population," said Patrick.

"We began this session by immediately calling for a correction of the energy pricing that occurred during the February storm, which created millions of dollars in windfalls for some companies. The Texas Senate continued to stand up for ratepayers throughout this session, by passing Senate Bill 2, comprehensive Electricity Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) reform, and Senate Bill 3, the Power Grid Stability Act. We remain committed to the passage of the securitization bill, House Bill 4492, that provides a credit to ratepayers and we will get that bill passed during special session.

"The Texas Senate delivered on landmark pro-life and 2nd Amendment legislation, including Constitutional Carry. These bills have already become national models
," Patrick (right, with Gov. Greg Abbott,) said.

"We passed legislation to save girls sports and ban the insidious critical race theory from our public schools. With the Star Spangled Banner Protection Act we ensured that if sports teams take taxpayer money, they must play the national anthem at their events.

"Once again the legislature took a strong stand supporting our brave law enforcement officers who are currently helping secure our border, as well as keeping our communities safe. We budgeted $120 million in pay increases for our Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers, and provided the funding to bulletproof the windshields of our troopers' patrol cars
," said Patrick.

"I want to thank the Texas Senate for their hard work this session. They are all public servants who serve with distinction. I know each of them make personal sacrifices to serve the people of our great state, and I am honored to serve alongside them."
