McCaul Discusses Orlando Shooting at House GOP Leadership Press Conference

McCaulCong.Michael5cThis is the 5th major attack since 9/11. The tempo is increasing not decreasing and Im very concerned about the threat environment right here in the United States. Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C.   Weve arrested 85 ISIS followers in this country. Weve had 75 plots against the West. Weve stopped many of these" said the U.S. House of Representatives Homeland Security Committee chairman Micheal McCaul (R-TX) during a House Leadership Press Conference earlier today. In all these cases you see the (red) flags and warning signs in the radicalization process that were there but that were missed along the way and not discovered prior to the attack. And in every one of these cases if we could catch those flags beforehand we could stop an act of terrorism. Its the one that you dont know about that keeps you up at night. This one (in Orlando) certainly kept us up at night and I pray that we dont have any more in this country" said McCaul who as chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee receives the same National Security Briefings as President Obama.      Whether it be the Boston Marathon Bombing San Bernardino and now this (in Orlando) the deadliest terror attack since 9/11 I think Congress has an oversight responsibility and were going to be looking into this to see what happened and what can be learned from this to prevent this in the future said McCaul. Last week Congressman McCaul and other House Republicans under the leadership House Speaker Paul Ryan unveiled the second plank of their long-expected A Better Way initative to tackle some of the countrys biggest challenges. It included a number of national security initiative to chart a course for Americas foreign policy in order to keep the American people safe and peace in a dangerous world. The plan  available at Better.GOP  includes 67 Recommendations for Congress and the President including ideas to:
  • Protect the Homeland.  Keep terrorists out of America secure the nations borders and stop cyberattacks.
  • Defeat the Terrorists.  Make it a top national security priority to prevail in the war against radical Islamic extremism.
  • Tackle New Threats.  Make sure the United States is ready to tackle the threats of our time and beyond.
  • Defend Freedom.  Restore American influence advance free enterprise and expand the community of free nations.
