Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick Earns Endorsement of All 14 Returning Republican Senators

“I’m proud to work with these state senators who share my commitment to the people of Texas and making sure the Lone Star State remains the job creator for the nation, a force in the global economy and a beacon of liberty and freedom.”

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas –
“Last week, I was proud to receive the endorsement of 34-year veteran Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr., D-Brownsville, often called the 'conscience of the Texas Senate.' Today, I am honored to have the endorsement of every returning Texas Republican State Senator," announced Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick earlier today.

“Since becoming Lt. Governor in 2014, the Senate has passed 104 of the 110 priority-bills I designated at the beginning of each legislative session including the passage of a prudent state budget that has never grown more than the rate of inflation times population growth. These budgets were passed with bipartisan support and only one dissenting Senate vote in my first 3 sessions and a unanimous vote in my 4th session. The past session we passed a spending cap to ensure that the state budget can never increase beyond inflation and population growth going forward.

“I was also proud to pass the largest education funding increase in 40 years while keeping my promise to substantially increase teacher salaries.  We also made sure we provided a 13th annual check for retired teachers and that the teacher’s retirement fund was financially sound for the first time in decades.

“We substantially increased funding to mental health care and border security and increased the homestead exemption from $15,000 to $40,000 to help reduce property taxes. We also cut the franchise tax by 25%.

“I’m proud to work with these state senators who share my commitment to the people of Texas and making sure the Lone Star State remains the job creator for the nation, a force in the global economy and a beacon of liberty and freedom.”

Senator Charles Perry, R-Lubbock, Chair of Water, Agriculture and Rural Affairs, said: “South Plains, the Panhandle, West, East, and Central Texas values are Dan Patrick’s values. He has always partnered with me on the needs of rural Texas.”

Sen. Lois Kolkhorst, R-Brenham, Chair of Health and Human Services, said: “Lt. Governor Dan Patrick is a true leader for Texas. He tirelessly strives to find the best and honest answer to incredibly complex issues. He has supported legislation for mental health issues and prioritized important bills. Lt. Governor Patrick never stops working. He is a tireless worker who is always accessible and always open to new ideas and advice.”

Senator Brandon Creighton, R-Conroe, Chair of Education and Higher Education said: “As Chair of Senate Education, I know first-hand that Dan is a true partner to students, teachers, and Texas families. He increased spending in public education and increased teacher pay more than any Lt. Governor in history. Dan knows the key to a great education is a great well-paid teacher and involved parents. This session we will work together to pass a parental bill of rights, so their voices are heard and respected.”
