Backers Claim a Big Pro-Life Victory in Texas, as Gov. Abbott Signs 'The Heartbeat Bill'

Texas Law Adds to Groundswell of Pro-life Legislation Nationwide

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Texas Insider Report) — Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed the "Heartbeat Act" into law Wednesday, legislation to ban abortion in the state as early as a fetal heartbeat can be detected.

The national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List praised the effort, saying:

“We thank Governor Abbott and pro-life legislators in Texas for enacting law that reveals the humanity of unborn children in the womb,” said SBA List State Policy Director Sue Liebel (above.)

“There is a groundswell of pro-life activity happening in state legislatures across the nation, as lawmakers challenge the extreme status quo permitted by Roe: abortion on-demand, up until the moment of birth.

"Since January, 536 pro-life bills have been introduced with more than 60 signed into law – a strong rebuke of the deeply unpopular abortion agenda being pursued by the Biden-Harris administration and their allies in the abortion lobby.
”

A growing body of literature and emerging science continually affirms the humanity of unborn children.

By passing a bill into law limiting abortions as early as a fetal heartbeat can be detected, Texas joins other states with such limitations, including:

  1. Alabama
  2. Arkansas
  3. Georgia
  4. Iowa
  5. Kentucky
  6. Louisiana
  7. Mississippi
  8. Missouri
  9. North Dakota
  10. Ohio
  11. South Carolina, and
  12. Tennessee

SBA List is a network of 900,000 pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.
