(WASHINGTON DC) The average American family will pay an extra $1761 a year in energy costs under the Democrats latest energy tax proposal unveiled today in the Senate according to the Obama Administrations U.S. Treasury Department analysis. And that has Congressman John Carter (R-TX) renewing the national call to defeat the controversial legislation.
Washington is now overrun with people completely out-of-touch with the working families of this country" says Carter House Republican Conference Secretary. The House passed a horrible energy bill with this same kind of back-breaking tax hike on fuel and electric costs for families and this latest Senate proposal is worse. What is so infuriating is that we have tax-free cost-saving commonsense energy proposals that have been blocked by liberals for years just to satisfy radical environmentalists. The tragedy is that these economically devastating and unfair proposals will not decrease carbon emissions at all."
In contrast House Republicans propose lifting the ban on offshore oil and gas drilling ban opening Alaska for new oil production building new refineries increasing nuclear energy and expansion of alternative energy sources such as wind thermal and solar power.
NOTE: Earlier this month CBS News and other media outlets reported that a private analysis prepared by the Obama Administrations Treasury Department estimates that the cap-and-trade national energy tax will result in an average $1761 in increased costs for American families.
