Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Texas Gov. Greg Abbott appointed two new members
Christopher Huckabee and Ron Hammonds and 
reappointed Mickey Long to the
Texas Tech University Board of Regents on Thursday. The appointments will be effective Feb. 1 2015.
Christopher M. Huckabee is the CEO of Huckabee Architecture Engineering and Program Management a firm dedicated to educational design with offices in five Texas cities. He is a registered architect in Texas Colorado New Mexico Arkansas and Georgia and holds National Council of Architectural Registration Boards Certification. Huckabee was appointed to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board twice by Gov. Rick Perry and currently chairs the Agency Operations Committee.
Huckabee also serves on the Board of Trustees for Cook Childrens Health Foundation and Cook Childrens Medical Center in Fort Worth and is Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Community Foundation of North Texas. Huckabee received a Bachelors degree from Texas Tech University in 1991. In 2002 Huckabee established the Timothy Terry Memorial Endowed Scholarship for Architectural Students at Texas Tech in memory of an employee and friend and in 2007 he established the Huckabee Student Lounge at the Texas Tech College of Architecture.
Ronnie Ron" Hammonds is manager and owner of Grason Communities LLC a Houston real estate investment firm. A native of Cotton Center Texas Hammonds founded and managed Hammonds Homes Ltd. which was sold to Meritage Homes in 2002. After serving briefly in the U.S. Army Hammonds a Certified Public Account was employed by the Houston office of Haskins and Sells a national public accounting firm that has since morphed into Deloitte and Touche.
He has served on the boards of the local state and national associations of homebuilders the Hearthstone Homeowners Association the Hearthstone Country Club and Brookhollow National Bank. Hammonds a member of Saddle Tramps organization graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in accounting.
Mickey Long currently serves on the Texas Tech University Board of Regents to which he was appointed by Gov. Rick Perry in 2009. Long is President of Westex/WLP Well Service L.P. a well servicing company based in Midland. He is a member of the Association of Energy Service Companies and the Texas Tech University Hall of Legacy.
Before being named a member of the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents Mickey was an active member of the Texas Tech University Foundation Angelo State University Alumni Foundation and the Red Raider Club National Board of Directors. Long received a Bachelors degree from Angelo State University in 1976.
These appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.
