Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas The 83rd regular legislative session has been one of success in advancing conservative solutions for Texas. Our legislative leaders have proven to be good stewards of government and forward thinking in the way they have addressed important issues. Their vision and hard work are deserving of public recognition.
We applaud Paul Burka and Texas Monthly for their efforts to recognize the best legislators. Several of those listed have distinguished themselves as thoughtful conservatives and are deserving of the honor.
Among the noteworthy are leaders and Committee Chairs including:
- Speaker Joe Straus
- Representative Jim Pitts and
- Representative Jimmie Don Aycock.
However ten slots are not nearly enough.
In particular Senator Troy Fraser and Representative Alan Ritter have both been at the forefront of addressing the states long-

term water issues and their hard fought success commendable.
Representatives Dan Branch and Jim Keffer are also worthy of mention for the major strides they have taken to improve the future of higher education and energy in Texas respectively.
Both
Senator Dan Patrick (right) and Representative Harvey Hilderbran have shown strong leadership this session. Hilderbrans HB 500 helped to provide significant tax relief while SB 2 by Patrick took steps toward modernizing public education in the state of Texas.
The Texas Conservative Roundtable looks forward to releasing our 2013 Legislative Scorecard in which we aim to recognize the many other legislators that have helped to shape responsible conservative solutions. Again we thank our elected officials for their dedication and resolve on the issues that matter most.
