Adversarial Press is making a Comeback

lynn_woolleyTexas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – Dear Lojiks,

What have we come to? Is it the people versus the establishment?

Lou Ann Anderson is a dogged and determined investigative reporter. I know. She used to be executive producer of the Lynn Woolley Show. If you’re involved in political malfeasance, you do not want her on your case. Anderson is now an editor at Watchdog Wire and she is one of three major thorns in the side of government in a particularly trying time in Bell County, Texas. The rest of Texas is watching. (The other two thorns are the Temple Daily Telegram and the Lynn Woolley Show.)

The latest outrage is that the County wants to charge Anderson more than $50,000 for copies of emails that Judy Morales wrote on county time and computers, and then, allegedly tried to erase from the record. Two questions here:

1. Since the County has conducted an investigation through the department of Sheriff Eddy Lange, it would seem that these emails should be readily available. After all, how could they conduct an investigation without retrieving them from the server? So, the charges to Anderson should just amount to some paper and copying. (Other than the fact that they have to “redact” the documents.)

2. BeLogical wants to know if Judy Morales is the only Bell County official that has used county materials, computers, time, and staff for electioneering. We have long suspected that there is a great deal of butt-covering going on here. Let’s look at the County Attorney, the district judges, and the County Commissioners — the ones who have had re-election campaigns — and see if they have committed the same crimes. I wonder what we would find?

In fact, every newspaper in Texas ought to check this out to see if this is widespread. In Bell County, it’s time for an independent special prosecutor to ensure that there is no cronyism going on in this investigation. Meanwhile, the Temple City Council may soon be facing recall elections related to Ms. Morales, who is still serving as Mayor Pro-Tem.

Pressure is mounting on Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer to veto the “anti-gay” bill. But somebody has to take a stand.

Look, I work at an ad agency. Suppose a gay bar calls and wants us to take it on as an account. Suppose I don’t want to do advertising work for a gay bar. Do I not have the right to refuse that business? I’m all for non-discrimination, but if I were a photographer, i would not want to shoot a gay wedding.

eric-holderWhen are we as a people going to stand up to this assault on traditional values? A heroic group of black pastors is trying to impeach Eric Holder over the marriage issue — and I think that’s what we ought to do doing. Before we lose our country.

Take a stand — now more than ever!

Logically,
Lynn Woolley
