Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN TX Americans for Prosperity State Director Peggy Venable released the following statement today regarding passage of the State Budget in the Texas House of Representatives:
Texans will benefit in the long run from the tough decisions the Texas House made this weekend."
Texas citizens cant spend more than they make and legislators heard the message from voters that the Texas budget must be formed using only the funds that the state is expected to have available."
The more than 101000 members of Americans for Prosperity in Texas do not support raising taxes using the rainy day funds for recurring expenses."
We realize that many Texans will feel some of the impact from budget cuts but it is irresponsible to continue to spend more than what is available revenue. The Texas House and the Governor are right to recognize that neither raising taxes nor raiding the Economic Stabilization Fund are viable options."
We cannot continue to kick the can down the road and expect future generations to pay for a growing government from a shrinking private sector."
Future generations are counting on us to provide them with the opportunity to enjoy the American dream. Painful as it may be cutting spending today both at the state and federal levels helps secure economic opportunities for taxpayers today and for future generations."
