Peggy Venable will join local group leaders to discuss AFP’s position on this and other school bond proposals on the Nov. 6 ballot.
The press conference will take place across from Dripping Springs High School at 111 Tiger Lane in Dripping Springs at 11:30am on Wednesday October 31.
DSCCG members oppose the bond on the grounds that the district has presented no bid proposals for the items included in the bond. They have also stated their disagreement with the district’s claims that “explosive growth” is behind the need for this new money.
“Dripping Springs ISD already has $98.1 million in bond debt. This latest proposal will nearly double the district’s debt. Dripping Springs is a perfect example of why we need to take a close look at what school districts are asking taxpayers to fund” said Venable.
“We should call bonds what they really are: tax increases” she continued.
Over 100 school districts in Texas are asking citizens to approve bond measures totaling over $6.8 billion statewide.
