Tincy Miller Deserving of Crucial State Board of Education Dist. 12 Post
Texas Insider Report: Austin TX My record my experience and my conservative values on which I never compromised make me the strongest candidate in the race." said Tincy Miller recently of her long record of service. The battle for the Texas
State Board of Education which during the next two years
will be making critical decisions over what Texas students are taught in science and history today sees all
15 seats up for election today.
While the GOP is expected to retain control of the board every race is contested. Granted four of the boards 15 Republican nominees have only Libertarian opponents.
With critical votes on science and U.S. history books looming in 2013 and 2014 Texans will choose the board responsible for making those decisions and influencing education not only in Texas but other states that use materials adopted here as well.
In the District 12 race in Dallas and Collin counties Republican Geraldine Tincy Miller of Dallas is trying to reclaim the seat she lost two years ago in the GOP primary.
The Texas Constitution says the Permanent School Fund must be used to pay for
instructional materials for all schoolchildren in the state" says Miller who is running for the State Board of Educations (SBOE) District 12 spot continueing to champion "The Childrens Textbook Fund" and its ability to provide up-to-date high standards textbooks or learning materials for the classroom.
Texas textbooks will be historically and factually accurate and not politically correct" Miller notes of the curriculum standards adopted when she previously served as chairman of the board

Earlier this year Texas Insider published a story covering Gallup Pollings Annual Confidence in American Institutions" survey. It
revealed that just 29 of Americans have confidence in the nations public schools.
We believe the race for the Texas State Board of Educations 12
th District provides
a unique opportunity in candidate Tincy Miller for conservative experience to reverse that notion and carry the day during a crucial time for state education.
Millers opponent Democrat Lois Parrott a former Dallas school board member is trying to break the GOPs long lock on the seat.
Smaller more liberal factions within Texas have often spared with social conservatives over the years. Despite a dismal outlook in the generally-conservative state they say the importance of the election cant be overemphasized especially with new science and social studies books in line for upgrading.
Textbook publishers from across the nation have long watched Texas elections closely because of the

market weight seen in the states 4.8 million school children. Shortly the SBOE will be writing books for science and social studies and need to be attuned to what point of view the board desires.
In one other Dallas-area SBOE race incumbent Democrat Mavis Knight of Dallas is expected to win re-election against Republican S.T. Russell a Dallas businessman in District 13.
Incumbent Republican Pat Hardy (right) of Weatherford is expected to easily win her race against Libertarian Jason Darr of Bedford in District 11 based in Tarrant County.
