Alonzo Re-Elected Co-Chair of DFW 2009 Legislative Delegation 81st Session

width=65DALLAS TX -  Earlier today in Austin right after adjourning for the week Texas State Representative Roberto R. Alonzo (Dallas) was reelected to a second term as Co-Chair of the Dallas Area Legislative Delegation (DALD) for the 81st Regular Session.  Joining Rep. Alonzo as the other Co-Chair will be State Representative Dan Branch who represents Legislative House District 108 an area around downtown uptown and near north and east Dallas as well as the Town of Highland Park and the City of University Park. 

Rep. Alonzo represents House District 104 which encompasses primarily the southwest Dallas region including some areas around Oak Cliff Cockrell Hill northeast Grand Prairie North Oak Cliff and Arcadia Park.  Rep. Alonzo served his first term as DALD Co-Chair last session along with now-retired State Representative Fred Hill of Richardson.

I am once honored and privileged indeed that my colleagues in the Texas Legislature from the Dallas area have expressed their trust and confidence by electing me as Co-Chair of the DFW Delegation.  I look forward to working closely  with Co-Chair Branch as well as all 27 members of the delegation along with our colleagues in the Senate -  to promote advocate and support legislation that will benefit all constituents from the DFW and North Texas regions. 

“Most importantly however I look forward to working in partnership and in a nonpartisan manner with all members of the delegation representing the various diverse regions of the DFW area to ensure that we improve the quality of life for all hard-working Texans including those that entrusted us with their votes in November and sent us to Austin to be their voices in the Legislature. 

“Most importantly by working together as a delegation I am confident that our collective  veteran legislative experience networking abilities coupled with our clout as one of the largest delegations in the Legislature we will be able to bring more jobs to the area improve quality education and affordable health care for our constituents  address our transportation infrastructure provide property tax relief and further address the root causes of some of the most important issues facing all Texans said Rep. Alonzo.

Returning for his sixth 2-year term in the House Rep. Alonzo remains confident that he will use his policy-making expertise veteran legislative experience and networking relationship with key lawmakers including Co-Chair Brach to advocate important legislation and pass significant measures that will improve the quality of life for all Texans especially those that call Dallas the DFW metroplex home.  In the next few weeks  and before the session starts to get busier members of the DALD delegation will be polled to determine priority issues they will be addressing as a delegation.
