American GI Forum of Texas Inc. Commander Appoints Legislative Team for Session

width=299Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas -- John Martinez American GI Forum (AGIF) State Commander has made several new key appointments. The most important at this time since there is a Legislative Session this year is a Legislative Committee. Martinez has taken the privilege with concurrence of the AGIF Board to keep basically the same team that past commander Larry Perez previously selected. Martinez will replace Perez on that committee. Martinez selected Past State Commander Paul Herrera to Chair the Committee previously chaired by Executive Secretary-Treasurer Gil Rodriguez. 1st Vice Commander Ceasar Ruiz Austin; Robert Flores San Antonio; and Jim Cardle from Austin round off the team. Anytime any Board member is in Austin the are welcome to join them. The team is scheduled to be at the State Capitol almost on a daily basis during the Legislative Session meeting with Legislators or Legislative Chiefs-of Staff from both side of the isle or testifying attending hearings committee meetings working for legislation important for Veterans Education Healthcare Transportation and Energy. They also attend SBOE TEA and other important meetings. They meet with Chairs House and Senate of our Veterans and Military Installations. Because of the problems with some people from outside the organization claiming to be AGIF members we are communicating with all legislators and their staff warning them of such intruders. Commander Martinez informed us. Only the above named and in special cases members with approved permission to speak on issues of concern in their communities may officially represent the interests of the AGIF of Texas Inc. Legislators will be aware of this and may question any member that offers testimony or speaks before a committee or hearing as AGIF representatives/members. The American GI Forum is the largest Federarlly Congressionaly chartered Hispanic Veterans Organization in the U.S. with chapters in 40 states and Puerto Rico. they sponsor many programs for veterans including their flagship the American GI Forum National Veterans Outreach Program (NVOP) based in San Antonio Texas.
