Americas New Congress

From Congressman Michael T. McCaul Michael-Mccaul12Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. After the heinous terror attack in Paris the U.S. stands ready to assist the French in their efforts to track down and bring to justice those responsible for the attacks. Violent extremism will never defeat freedom or liberty. I spoke about the terror attack on CNNs The Situation Room and on Fox News. As the 114th Congress kicked off this week I supported two pieces of legislation aimed at lessening the impact of ObamaCare on middle class families and employers. The Hire More Heroes Act which I cosponsored will ensure that companies arent penalized by ObamaCare for hiring veterans who receive health insurance from the Department of Defense or Department of Veterans Affairs. I also voted for the Save American Workers Act which restores the 40 hour work week as the standard for full time employment under ObamaCare. After more than 2300 days of excuses and delays it is time to approve the Keystone XL Pipeline. On Friday the House passed legislation approving long overdue constructions of the pipeline. If the President wants to veto it then he will have to explain to the American people why he has turned his back on an all of the above" energy policy which will create tens of thousands of jobs lower gas prices and grow our economy. As part of an all of the above" energy policy this week I reintroduced the Crude Oil Export Act which ends 1970s era restrictions on the free trade of American crude oil. My bill modernizes our nations energy policy to maximize output create new jobs at home and boost Americas energy security while giving us a powerful new foreign policy tool. With most of Americas crude oil production taking place underneath the feet of Texans in the Eagle Ford Shale and the Permian Basin lifting the outdated ban on crude oil exports is one of my top priorities and it should be one of Congress top priorities too.
