Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Twelve area school districts have partnered with North Central Texas College (NCTC) to provide dual-credit certification using a $195258 Skills Development Fund grant from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). Districts within the region include six from Cooke County two from Denton County three from Montague County and one from Young County.
The grant allows training received in dual-credit curriculum to be used towards a Level 1 industry-recognized certificate in Welding Technology Industrial Mechanics HVAC and Machining Technology.
The Texas Workforce Commission is proud to support this valuable partnership between North Central Texas College and area high schools which will provide dual-credit opportunities for students and accelerate their college and career pathways with high-demand skills training" said Texas Workforce Commissioner Representing Employers Hope Andrade.

This dual-credit grant is an expansion of the
Skills Development Fund through House Bill (HB) 3028 to support certain joint-credit courses offered by school districts in partnership with public junior colleges public state colleges or public technical institutions. The Legislature made available $450000 to further support the creation and expansion of dual-credit career and technical educations in Texas schools that are highly technical in nature addressing local area demands for high-skill high-demand and high-wage industries.
