Obamacare Health Care Exchange Glitches Abound
House Republicans have passed four different bills to keep the government funded. Despite these efforts, President Obama and Senate Leader Harry Reid chose to run out the clock and shut down the government, rather than negotiate on our differences.
The House continues working to find solutions, and we’ve passed a number of bills to fund those parts of the federal government that enjoy broad bipartisan support, including veterans, national security, cancer research, national parks, FEMA, and others.
Unfortunately, the Senate has refused to take up most of these bipartisan measures to open the government up, and President Obama threatens to veto these bills unless he gets everything he wants. Clearly there are some differences between the House and the President and the Senate, but we should at least fund those parts of the government where we do have agreement, while we negotiate our differences on the areas where we disagree.
Keep track of the bills that we’ve passed to end the shutdown here.
Locking Out Our Veterans
As part of the government shutdown, the Administration unnecessarily closed many national parks.
In what can only be described as a mean-spirited jab at our military heroes, the Obama Administration also shut down a number of unmanned, open-air national monuments, including the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C.
There is no excuse for President Obama to try shutting our WWII heroes out of their memorial that they come to visit. Sadly, last week they faced barricades (aka “Obamacades”) at the entrance.
America’s military veterans deserve the utmost respect from all of us, and I’m proud that many of my colleagues in Congress stood up against this political ploy and helped our veterans break through these absurd Obamacades. Americans who’ve served our nation in years past and defended the freedoms we enjoy deserve the same respect as those who proudly serve today.
Obamacare Health Care Exchange Glitches Abound
The Obamacare health exchanges opened last week as healthcare.gov went live. Serious failures and computer glitches ensued.
After three years of prep time, Obamacare’s “failure to launch” proves the law is not ready for prime time. These latest computer glitches add to a long list of delays, waivers, and exceptions already issued by the Administration to their political friends. The law is either so good that it should apply to all Americans, or it is so broken that it should be delayed for all Americans.
The devastating effects of the President’s health care law are not a partisan issue:
- Businesses see it.
- American families see it.
- Even union leaders like James Hoffa see this train wreck coming.
It is time for Senate Democrats and the President to get off the sidelines and work in a bipartisan way to fund the government while eliminating Obamacare’s special political exemptions. The House Republican Study Committee and our Members are committed to winning this fight for the future of our country.
Rep. Flores Seeks Cosponsors for the Fairness for America’s Heroes Act of 2013
H.R. 2876, the Fairness for America’s Heroes Act of 2013, is Obamacare delay legislation along the lines of the individual and employer mandate delay bills the House passed earlier this year.
This bill would provide our nation’s veterans and heroes a much-deserved choice to delay the disastrous implementation of Obamacare. This legislation provides a one-year delay of the individual requirement under Obamacare for our nation’s veterans.
