Attorney General Abbotts Child Support Division Recognized For Exemplary Performance

The award was presented to and accepted by Alicia Key Deputy Attorney General on behalf of the Child Support Division. This award recognizes the hard-working men and women of the Child Support Division for their tireless efforts to secure vital support for thousands of young Texans. Together we are helping to ensure Texas children have the resources they need to grow healthy and strong" Abbott said. Each year WICSECs Outstanding Program Award recognizes a state regional county or tribal child support program that has consistently exemplified the best in child support enforcement by delivering effective services to its constituent families. The Texas child support program was singled out for collecting $2.9 billion for Texas children during the federal fiscal year that ended Sept. 30. For the past three years Texas has ranked 1st in the nation for the total amount of child support collected. The states collection growth of 32 from 2006 2009 was the largest in the nation and more than five times the national growth rate of 6&. Texas collections grew by 4.4 from 2008 2009 while national collections experienced a four percent decline. In 2009 the Texas program collected more than $1 million per child support employee making it the nations most productive child support program. Collections per employee have tripled over the last 10 years. Under the Abbott administration $18 billion in child support has been collected for Texas families. In addition to honoring Texas with the Outstanding Program award WICSEC inducted Assistant Attorney General Barry Brooks into the WICSEC Presenter Hall of Fame. The newly created hall of fame allows WICSEC to honor dedicated child support employees who volunteer their time and expertise to develop and deliver training at annual conferences. Also Child Support Division employee Phyllis Jefferson was singled out for her outstanding achievement in the management category. Jefferson was selected because of her efforts to streamline child support disbursement processes. WICSEC is an organization of public and private child support professionals from the states west of the Mississippi River committed to improving child support enforcement for the benefit of the children and parents it serves.
