Attorney General Paxton: The Continued Assault on Religious Liberties Undermines our Constitution

ken.paxton.agTexas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton today filed an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in Houston Baptist University v. Burwell in support of protecting the free exercise of religion from government intrusion. The state of Texas was joined by 15 other states.
The continued assault on religious liberties in our nation threatens every single American and undermines the foundation of our Constitution" Attorney General Paxton said. No government should impose costly fines on its citizens for living in accordance with their convictions and today the State of Texas stands with all religious institutions seeking protection from the overreaching mandates of Obamacare."
Houston Baptist University filed suit against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services following a regulation under Obamacare requiring religious nonprofits to make all forms of contraception available to employees at no cost. The university asked the U.S. Supreme Court to review its case last month. Joining the attorney general in the brief are the following states: Alabama Arizona Florida Georgia Kansas Louisiana Michigan Montana Nevada Ohio Oklahoma South Carolina South Dakota Utah and West Virginia.
