Illinois Nurse Former Bryan Planned Parenthood Director to be Featured at Nov. 10 Event

AUSTIN TexasThe Austin Coalition for Life a new group bringing a compassionate pro-life message to Central Texas will host its first annual banquet at the Renaissance Hotel 9721 Arboretum Blvd. on Nov. 10 at 7 p.m.
The speaker for the event will be Nurse Jill Stanek whose experience in an Oak Lawn Illinois hospital confirmed her view on the precious nature of life and turned her from one who looked away" when it came to abortion to someone who would take a stand. After a child was born alive in a failed abortion procedure Stanek found the child had been abandoned and left to die. Stanek comforted the child in its last few minutes and then became a national spokeswoman for efforts to protect the unborn.
Jill could have just walked away but she saw a child of God and knew that even though it would die it needed love" said Elizabeth McClung the director of Austin Coalition for Life. Too often people look the other way and say its not their concern. But Jill took a stand and she brings a powerful message about the need for everyone to take a stand in defense of life."
Also attending will be another woman who recently took a stand generating nationwide attention. Abby Johnson who served as the director of the Bryan Planned Parenthood recently underwent a conversion when she saw an ultrasound video of an abortion procedure for the first time. Unlike Stanek who always opposed abortion Johnson went from being a supporter of abortion to being opposed to it.
Abbys decision was hard but like Jill she saw that abortion isnt just a medical procedure its the ending of a human life" McClung said. As more and more people realize the true nature of abortion more and will change.
Austin Coalition for Lifes mission is to help change hearts not by protests or shouting at people but by prayer and compassion" McClung continued. Turning toward a culture of life isnt about finding people to blame its about opening our hearts to those who disagree with us and welcoming them with open arms when they finally do embrace life."
Austin Coalition for Life is an outgrowth of the 40 Days for Life Austin campaign in which volunteers pray for a peaceful end to abortion in America. To learn more visit the ACFL website.
