We are proud to announce that this year we fulfilled our $2.5 million pledge for the Austin Chapter of Credit Unions Inpatient Wing. We could not have done this without our entire credit union team and we are so grateful for everyones efforts to make this happen.
In addition to earning accolades in the Dora Maxwell award (A Federal Credit Union is one of 24 credit unions in the Austin Chapter); A Federal Credit Union is also celebrating its success in the Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award program.
The purpose of the Desjardins Award is to recognize stellar leadership of individual credit unions chapters or groups of credit unions in the field of youth financial education. A Federal Credit Union received honorable mention for its extraordinary efforts to teach young people about personal finance and assist them in developing strong savings habits.
The credit union reached young consumers thirsty for financial literacy via live television appearances in-class demonstrations for all age levels and through a series of financial education events and fundraisers made possible through collaboration with other mission-driven organizations including the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce. These wide ranging efforts have clearly demonstrated A Federal Credit Unions commitment to ensuring young people are prepared to meet lifes challenges.
We are truly excited to have received an honorable mention at the national level for the Desjardins Award" said Kerry Parker president and CEO of A Federal Credit Union. We truly believe in the importance of educating youth about responsible money management.
Passion for financial literacy goes beyond one department; its an entire team effort. Everyone at the Credit Union plays an integral role in reaching out to the local communities and providing them with the best financial education possible."
