Legislative Happenings
As you may know each legislative session lawmakers are constitutionally required to pass a balanced budget to fund the state government which includes core areas such as public education healthcare law enforcement criminal justice infrastructure and other essential state agencies.
Recently I was selected to serve as a Co-Chairman of the Texas Conservative Coalition Research Institute State Budget Task Force alongside a select few of my colleagues in the Texas House and Senate. The task forces objective is to examine the budget with legislators policy experts and other stakeholders in a unique forum providing discussion and debate among public and private sector leaders. Topics of discussion will include zero-based budgeting Medicaid and Public Education cost projections state debt and the Affordable Care Act among others. Upon completion the task force will release a final report including policy recommendations for the 84th Legislative Session which I look forward to sharing in the months to come.
As the national leader in job and population growth it is imperative that our state leaders are forward thinking as we work to adequately address our growing infrastructure needs while properly educating and preparing our states dynamic workforce.

This starts with instating responsible conservative policies during the budget process and I look forward to finding sustainable solutions so that we may continue to carry out the Texas Miracle for future generations to come.
District Spotlight!
During the 83rd Legislative Session Senator Ken Paxton and I worked together to author and pass House Bill 1534 which renames a large portion of Highway 75 in Collin County the Sam Johnson Highway. Last month it was a joy to honor Congressman Johnson for his lifelong service during a ceremonial event in celebration of the highway renaming.
