Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Attention Shoppers! Comptroller Glenn Hegar reminded Texas shoppers earlier today that the Annual Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday is scheduled for this Friday Saturday & Sunday Aug. 7 - 9. Most clothing footwear school supplies and backpacks priced under $100 will be exempt from sales tax.  

Hegar said this could save shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend during the weekend.

This year shoppers will save an estimated $87 million in state and local sales taxes during the sales tax holiday which has been an annual event since 1999.
