Boeing to Ramp Up San Antonio Hiring

David Bouse San Antonio human resources director for Boeing says the extra manpower is needed to help support the companys increasing workload related to its current programs involving the U.S. Air Forces fleet of KC-10 KC-135 C-130 and C-17 aircraft. Bouse says the company is looking to hire aircraft structural mechanics aircraft electrical mechanics avionics mechanics aircraft general mechanics and aircraft inspectors. We would prefer to attract people with airframe and power plant certificates as issued by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). This gives us greater flexibility with our workforce" Bouse says. San Antonio gets $12.9 million for defense projects The San Antonio Business Journal recently reported the U.S. House Armed Services Committees approval of $12.9 million for defense-related projects in San Antonio according to U.S. Rep. Ciro Rodriguez D-San Antonio who serves on the committee. f-22A planned upgrade of an aircraft maintenance building at Kelly Annex Field has been approved for $7.9 million in federal funding. The funding will be used to bring the building up to code compliance to provide a place where F-16 fighter jets can be properly maintained. In addition $5 million was authorized for a program to produce unmanned aerial vehicles that use Blacklight Night Vision Advanced Technology which is manufactured by San Antonio-based Mission Technologies Inc. This technology allows for the deployment of miniature drones to provide site-specific surveillance information. San Antonio continues to be a military leader in operations and the advancement of technology" says Congressman Rodriguez. These authorizations will bolster the ability of our troops to do their jobs more safely and efficiently."
