House Votes for Greater Protection from Criminals in U.S. Illegally

Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. Ask yourself one question; When an
undocumented immigrant is arrested for criminal behavior in your community should local politicians intentionally ignore the law and block their police from reporting the criminal suspect to federal immigration officials?
The simple answer is no and there should be consequences since these sanctuary city policies put our
families and neighborhoods at risk.
I voted yes on H.R. 3009 The Enforce the Law for Sanctuary Cities Act which will withhold federal funds from local governments that refuse to abide by current law when dealing with criminal suspects living in the U.S. illegally.
H.R. 3009 Background:
- Bars state and local governments from receiving federal funds under the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program if such entities have in effect laws policies or procedures that inhibit the enforcement of immigration laws or that prohibit state or local law enforcement officials from gathering information regarding the citizenship or immigration status of any individual.
- The bill also requires the Attorney General to withhold Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) and Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) funding that a state or local government otherwise would have been awarded for the following fiscal year if such entity impedes immigration enforcement in a manner prohibited by the bill.
Arm our Military & Stop Trusting Iran
What will it take before our trained military men and women on bases across America and at community-based recruiting centers are permitted to carry weapons?
The jihad-inspired murders in Chattanooga and Little Rock the terrorist plots against our armed forces at Seattle the Pentagon and Fort Riley not to mention the terrorist attack and mass murder of 13 service members at Fort Hood Texas any one is reason enough for the Pentagon to rethink its current ban.
For all our troops sacrifice to keep America safe shouldnt America do all it can to keep them safe?
Theres another clear message from these homegrown terrorist attacks: Its nave to believe that if America retreats from the world stage that well organized and media-adept terrorist groups like ISIS will simply disappear quietly into the night.
The war on terror is real and it is being waged abroad and here at home. For the sake of our nations safety we cannot allow Americas military and intelligence capability to be hollowed out through budget cuts and political correctness.
Time to Defund Planned Parenthood
If you are pro-choice -- or like me strongly pro-life -- you were taken back by the recent statements from Planned Parenthood executives on the sale of fetal body parts.
Ive said it before and I will say it again Planned Parenthood doesnt deserve Federal funding; they are responsible for more than 300000 abortions each year preventing thousands of families who choose adoption like mine from raising healthy and happy babies.
Recent revelations give Congress all the more reason to defund Planned Parenthood and any companies that buy and sell the body parts and organs of unborn children. Thats why I and 125 of my colleagues asked the Energy & Commerce and Judiciary Committees to investigate the organization.
Ive also recently sent a
letter to Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast requesting information on their abortion practices.
Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast is one of the largest providers of abortions in Texas.
While Congress intends to conduct thorough investigations over Planned Parenthoods potentially illegal harvesting-for-profit practices I and many of my constituency are troubled by the likelihood of similar organ-harvesting practices occurring at the Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast (PPGC) affiliate in Houston.
