Reforming how Washington D.C. issues Natural Gas Permits is a must."
Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. The President
talks about supporting American energy independence but
his policies and outdated permitting system hold our energy production back" said Texas Cong. Kevin Brady as the U.S. House passed the Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform Act to speed up the permitting process for all natural gas pipelines.
Bradys Houston-based district is home to many of the nations thriving energy companies.
We dont need more Washington Red Tape stalling production we need the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to approve or deny permit applications in a timely manner" says Brady.
Like the Keystone XL pipeline this bill has support from the National Taxpayers Union big labor groups and grassroots organizations such as Americans for Prosperity.
When you have this much agreement to reform an outdated process the Presidents veto threat rings hollow" added Brady.
The Natural Gas Pipeline Permitting Reform Act amends the Natural Gas Act by putting a 12 month timetable in place for a complete permit application to be processed. Should the agency fail to complete the process and approve any application within the specified time period that license permit or approval shall take effect 30 days later.
