Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas — “Each new day brings fresh momentum to our campaign,” said Dallas State Rep. Dan Branch, announcing that Texans for Dan Branch will report over $4 million cash on hand prior to his much anticipated step into the Attorney General race to replace Greg Abbott. In addition to the strong financial support, the 2014 grassroots effort continues to grow as 57,000 fans have joined the Texans for Dan Branch Facebook team.
“Stacey and I are grateful for the outpouring of support from all of those who have so generously encouraged our efforts,” said Branch, who serves as House Higher Education Committee Chairman.
With its July 15, 2013 campaign finance report covering the two-week period following the session fundraising moratorium, including hundreds of donations with no loans made to the campaign. Branch noted over 13,000 followers have joined @TexansForDan on Twitter.
A lifelong Republican, Dan Branch has worked on behalf of numerous conservative efforts, including the successful presidential and gubernatorial campaigns of George W. Bush, the Reagan/Bush re-election campaign, and as an aide to U.S. Senator John Tower.
For the last decade, Branch has served in the Texas House, where he has:
- Helped balance six state budgets without raising taxes
- Championed innovative reforms to reduce frivolous lawsuits
- Improved & reformed higher education, and
- Successfully sponsored bills to defend our religious liberties and property rights from intrusions by the federal government.
