After a roundtable meeting regarding a new employment eligibility verification system Bush said he was optimistic that U.S. government officials could work together to reform the current immigration system to cover all pertinent aspects a White House news release said.
According to Bush such an extensive system would include aspects that address border enforcement temporary work visas for qualified foreign workers holding U.S. employers responsible for hiring choices and dealing with the immigration issue from an optimistic and respectful manner.
The president said that the best way to create a truly comprehensive bill to address the immigration issue was through a bipartisan approach.
Bush called on senators both Democrat and Republican to assist his Cabinet in creating such a bill as soon as possible to best facilitate its passage.
